OMG!!! That looks amazing!!

Yeah in terms of graphics it has the same look and feel of Crystal Chronicles but with nice N64 visuals!

Are there other Final Fantasy games (other than FFCC) announced for the DS, or are they just on the GBA. It's a shame really, they could of had 1&2 on the GBA and then FF3,4,5,6 could have used the same engine and brought an amazing 3D FF collection to the DS!

Nice, it's on a par with the PSone games :-D Can't wait, lets hope they really flesh out the characters for this game. It'd be nice to get a bit of love story in there.

Sweet Mother of Pearl. Those graphics are simply A-Mazing!

But why III though, surely 6 would've been a better choice as it is probably the most loved by along side FF7?
Does anyone know if the III story is any good, as I one of the mina reasons i play RPGS is for a deep involving engrossing story ala FF7. As FF1 simply contained next to none and II was pretty weak I'm feeling slightly worried the story may be a little on the lite side...

21-10-2005, 04:55 PM
Why III? because it hasn't ever been released outside Japan.
This is a great way to allow people to finally own all Final Fantasy games outside Japan. lets face it, Square Enix could have been lazy bastards and just ported it with a lil enhances GFX like the other GBA FF games. I mean thats what they said they were doing before, remember? They said to expect the same sort of enhanced GFX seen in the PSX and GBA releases. What a suprise and what a GORGEOUS looking game!!! I CANNOT WAIIIIIT!!!.

I have to say, those graphics are astounding. I can't wait for this game... shall we'll have to.

Whoa... That...almost looks as good as Crystal Chronicles.

Wow!

I too am worried about the story side of this, because after all it is a Nes game at heart. Has anyone played it on an emulator or something? I'm guessing the characters and plot need to be revamped.

I can't wait for this i've owned or played all the Games on PS and i've got X & X-2 so this will make a excellent addition, bidding on Tactics Adance so good thing it's comin out next year.
I also think that this will steadly improve the DS's sales especially in Japan as i don't think PSP has a RPG yet and probally won't have one of this quality.
By the way has any FMVs been show yet???

Ramar
22-10-2005, 07:50 AM
There won't be any in game FMV's I would imagine.

I never played Kingdom Hearts, but I know it wouldn't be the FMV magnitude of the PXS/PS2 FF's, which I think Calza was hinting at.

The Metroid demo does contain an FMV, so I know its possible but I highly doubt there will be many. Like you say, probably just an intro and ending FMV.

Yeah, there really high qualitly.1 opening, two cutscenes and two ending. They almost look PS2 graphics but better as they are on a small screen. Check them out (http://www.kh2.co.uk/?com=Videos)

*gulp*

Did a bit of research into the story. This is what I got, it doesn't contain any spoliers, just what happens in the beginning and such.

"Once upon a time, 4 boys wandered into a cave and fell into a hole. As they walked to the end of the hole they came across a door. Inside the door was a crystal shining with light. As the light approached, a monster attacked... After the 4 killed the monster, the crystal gave them mystical powers to fight against the evil. And so it begins..."

Yeah...with an opening like that, the game's just GOTTA be awesome. FF3 does have some interesting qualities but, for the most part, they can't save the plot. Even FF1, which didn't have much in the ways of plot twists and whatnot, could beat this one to dust. Even still, it's a decent Final Fantasy title and isn't too terrible. "

Why oh why oh why Final Fantasy III? It's madness... although I think they're doing it simply because it was never released outside of Japan. Hopefully yje plot will get a well needed kick up the arse like the graphics.

And I guess as Final Fantasy VI is allready touted as a classic the ole "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" theory applies.

sniff... FF6 would be such a better contender for the remade graphics...

anyone played the FF1 and FF2 on PSone/GBA? was the story any good?

Surely they will change the plot a bit, but keep to the basics if it is that bad?

FF1 was practically non existant. The playable characters had next to no personality at all as you choose 4 of them out of about 6 classes (so you could have a party of 4 black mages)

FF2 was better as there were pre defined characters that came into your party gradually and a back story to why characters where were etc.

They'll bulk the story up, NES games always lacked in story and story telling.

Generally yes, but if anyone's played Dragon Warrior IV they'll know that this game is an exception to that statement, it had a great Suikoden III esque chapter way of story tellling.

I can't really remember how they panned out so I got this form wikipedia.

"The first four chapters were dedicated towards introducing motives and back-stories to the hero's companions. Each story gives meaning and attachment to those characters.
In chapter one, the royal guard Ragnar must save the missing children and in doing so uncovers a plot to kill the still young hero.
In chapter two, the princess Alena tries to prove her strength and sets out on a journey with Brey and Cristo.
In chapter three, the merchant Taloon seeks wealth and treasure.
In chapter four, the dancer Mara and the fortune teller Nara attempt to exact revenge on their father's murder.
All four of these stories lead up to the hero's fifth and final chapter."

As I've said before, I'm hoping they give teh characters:

1- Personality
2- Motivation
3- Relationship

I'm hoping they add a bunch of new locations and skills too...

Here's the upper part of that magazine scan. Showing some nice Final Fantasy VI,V screens. This will be a god send as I just couldn't bear the manic loading times on the PSone version of VI.

Its odd that it looks so mcuh like CC I wonder if its on hold for now. Its a shame that it seems to have little story, but if the games any good Ill buy it anyway.

I have only ever played FF7/8 on the ol' greystation many years ago, and I loved them to bits, so the prospect of a 3D handheld version is really exciting!

I'm having second thoughts about this on a handheld. Seems strange. Hopefully it will be a similair style as the console versions.
