What do you think? was he the savoiur of mankind as the bible says or was he scrounger just going around preaching "i'm the son of god heres two loafs of bread pass them around and it will feed everyone" before running away with all the bread and fish for himself. :hmm:

Definantly the second one. Or he was a scrounger who was paid by some high up ancient government type to spread "commandments" other wise known as laws to control people. Because of that idiot I cant murder anybody, not even one person!

Religious threads don't tend to go down well. People end up in heated discussion and stupid things are said from both sides. I'm a Christian so that's my point of view. I'll wager that most people reading this will have made up their minds and won't say anything.
From a Christian's point of view the need of a Saviour is quite logical. God is both merciful and just and we are always going around breaking his commandments. As God is just we have to face the penalty of our actions, but mercy can be extended to us via the Saviour as he has take upon himself our sins and penalties. Like, neato.

Agree a third time. Religions threads get pretty nasty. If any religions hatred is spoken, the thread will be locked and the users involved warned.
Keep it clean guys! :)

Did you know that Jesus is equivalent to Joshua? Just different translations of the same root word or something. James and Jacob also.

Yeah, the same applies to "Jim Davison" and "****".
EDIT- My favourite word is censored. This makes me sad.

Jesus was a political aggitator . If, however, he is the saviour and returns to save us , we should tell him right away , "hurry mate , go back to heaven , the bastards will crucify you".

Sorry but... what?!
You believe George Clooney and his Nazi memoribilia? Sorry, its a family guy joke. But seriously, why believe a film? It could have streched the truth or made parts up for entertainment reasons.
Who the hell would want to sit through 4 hours of bible stuff anyway?

None of those. He wasn't the son of God, but I doubt he was a scrounger. Maybe he was just delusional?

Neither. He was pretty influential political leader though, sort of an early day socialist who challenged the corrupt nature of the Church at the time. It wasn't until the last Roman Emperor Constantine was forced to dissolve Christian teachings and Paganism into one religion (hence why we have so many pagan symbols in christianity) that Jesus was 'promoted' to a messiah in the new versions of the new testament.

Moving on. I'm a christian and thus as the title of my religion suggests I believe tha Jesus was 'christ' as in the son of God and saviour of man. I think if you look at what he did you have to decide if you thought he was insane, evil or good. But he can't just be called 'good' hes either the son of god and telling the truth, or hes not and lying which makes him incredibly evil or just insane.

Constantine replaced Paganism with Christianity as Rome's primary religion because he believed Jesus helped him out in a war around 300 AD. Christians had always said he was the Messiah, but it wasn't accepted by the people until Constantine made it Roman. Jesus was a powerful leader with a lot of influence though.

According to religion teachers I've had in the past, one must believe that Jesus was the son of god and is the saviour to be a christian.
