I currently jam to the following:

Razorlight
The Libertines
Queen
Pink Floyd
Scissor Sisters
Led Zeppelin
Kings of Leon
Babyshambles

I'm considering the new KT Tunstall and Oasis albums. Are they any good?

QOTSA, FF, Rammstein (many hate it, i love it), lost prophets (very emo), The Hives and the rest i listen to is probably way too obscure for all of you.
If you want something different, you might like belgian music : Hooverphonic, Vive la fete, Absynthe minded,...

I think you'll like the new Stereophonics album, based on that list above. Oasis' new album is very good too.

ooh, i like obscure music! can you recommend any english-speaking obscure music?

BTW stranger, with kt tunstall you're better off just downloading the singles, the rest of the album is rubbish.

Not 100% emo, but to a certian degree they are. Just look at some of their lyrics.

Well tbh it can be percieved different by anyone. To me they're not emo, they rock

When i put the Start Something album on media player it decides the genre to be heavy metal...mmm....how bout no?

i get what kopo means about the slight emo-ness to the lyrics, i think they are more like soft rock/pop rock maybe. still a class album tho :)

Ramar
16-10-2005, 08:47 PM
Considering the album came out quite a while ok, before emo truly existed. I'd say they fall under Metal.. saying they're emo is saying stuff like Slipknot is emo, there lyrics are different, and sometimes oreintated around the same stuff as emo.. yet they're anre't emo, they are Nu Metal. And a class act.

I agree. I also love them. Been listening to them a lot recently.

If you like obscure I have a dutch band here called Ballarina Liberation Front with english lyrics. It's actually pretty good.

Hmm, also try Kaiser Cheifs, based on your list.

How can you not like Rammstein? I think there's some kind of mathematical formula proving that it's physically impossible.

Yup, Herzeleid is my favourite of their works.

Heh, funny how tastes vary. I personally thought that Herzeleid was their 'worst' album. Don't get me wrong, it still rocks, just 2% less than say 'Mutter'. My two halfpenny's of course.

Get Franz Ferdinand's new album, it's amazing. So much better than the first one. Oasis new album is really good too. If you like Queen, get "Live at Wembley '86". I've just got it and I love it.

For me, Sehsucht and Mutter are fairly equal, and Reise, Reise the worst. Although, I still love RR of course :P

You seem to have an interest of bands back in the 60's or 70's, so may I recommend The Eagles, The Kinks, The Velvet Underground, Jimi Hendrix, and possibly The Animals

Andrew

Monopolyman - yeah, I intend to borrow The Kinks greatest hits from my friend. I'm also aware that I need to pick up some Hendrix. I also love The Animals' "House of the Rising Sun", but I don't know enough of their songs to justify buying an album of theirs.

Moria - Franz's new album is on my list. I think Oasis's new single is awesome, but can you please justify a purchase of the album? As for Queen '86, I would...but I already have their Night at the Opera album on my list.

Platty - I have heard good things about those first three artists in particular, but haven't heard their music. Mind sending over a few tracks over MSN?

Anyone here have KT Tunstall's album? Thoughts?

Whenever Oasis release a new album people say its shit compared to their old stuff, but thats because Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory were 2 of the best albums of the 90's. Don't Believe the Truth is quite a good album by itself, it's just all the reviews compare it against Definitely Maybe which its obviously never going to match.

Anyways, I recommend Get Behind Me Satan by the White Stripes, been listening to it since it came out monthes ago and it's still great to listen to while on the bus. :)

Try sham 69 or the stranglers. the stranglers are by far the greatest band ever to come from manchester ,dont listen to those oasis simpletons. also try the velvet underground or lou reeds "new york" album, its quality. some have said the animals are good ,i agree, but i hear they have recently been taken to task over their lyrics for "house of the rising sun". apparantly theres NOT a house in new orleans . ooer sorry about that one.

you may not see the merits in his music but you should at least recognise that other people can.

baaaack on topic, stranger, it's a bit of a long shot but i'd recommend animal collective's albums "feels" and "sung tongs". they're quite eccentric but have a pop sensibility too; if you like the flaming lips there's a chance you'll enjoy animal collective too.

Yeah Cee-Lo is that piff! I thinks I prefer him as an MC though Goodie Mob's Soul Food is a classic, he's also cool on OutKast features; 'Liberation' (<-possibly my favourite tune of all time) and 'git up, get out' he also did a cool track with DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill, can't remember the name tho.

Madlib needs to cut down on getting high and claim the mainstream success he deserves. I haven't heard much edan but i'll keep an ear out for him.

The Wu have released something new; Wu-Tang Meets The Indie Culture. I only know a few artists from the tracklist but from what I've heard so far it's pretty good. :hehe:
