prolli the most anticipated game of all time and guarenteed to be amazing, if its anything like a next-gen san andreas... with the exclusive episode content available for both consoles and the pc version, needing a fuckin expensive graphics card - which system will you be buying this for and why?
i will personally be getting this for the 360, due to the achievement points and the fact that i cant be assed to buy a ps3 until it takes a massive price drop...

I'll get it for the 360, partly for the achievements however I've never owned a gta on a console so it'll be fun.

Not a big GTA fan personally. After you've heard all the radio, I find little incentive to bash on.

I'll get it for 360 and my brother will get it for the PS3. I'll play through both for their exclusive content.

Depends on which one ends up been the better version of the game.

I guess Im the only person sticking to the spiritual home
Need some games to play on the PS3, Ive plenty on the 360!!
If I had both consoles, and were to get the game (which would depend on how much they actually change over GTA3), I would get it on the 360, because it's controller doesn't detract from the experience (for me)

The PC version will probably be the best again.

^ The port of San Andreas was terrible I thought :/ Although the custom user radio was a breath of fresh air for that game's sucky soundtrack.
I'll be getting it for the PC since I'm too poor for a PS3 or 360 ^^
if its as gangsta as San Andreas i wont be buyin it, thought SA was a pile of shit, will be getin it for 360 tho if i get it at all,

Thing is if its set in a set somewhere in the US, I'll get annoyed. They have Tokyo where theres Yakuza. You could even do austraila. Personally I wouldn't mind them doing one where you are the badass cop trying kill of the drug dealers, and all that stuff.
Then jack thompson would call it a police simulator and praise it

Like True Crime: Streets Of LA? (Which I found much more enjoyable than GTA VC and SA)

Also, the most anticipated game right now is Halo 3, seing as we've seen nothing of GTA 4 yet.

Yes but make it so the world has more missions, and other missions like that.
e.g. You are driving your car along a road when over the radio comes that a cop needs assistance -you can go and help him out or not but that decision may help or hinder your progress through the game

man who gives a feck if it is or isnt the most anticipated game, fact is gta has a much bigger global fanbase then halo and 99% of other games... i cant think of too many other games on the horizon that are as muchly anticipated as this game... stop picking at little information and stick to the threads purpose, u picky bastards lol

I don't know a single person who gives a damn about this game... Not at the moment, anyway.

I feel I have to agree with that. Usually with GTA there's some sort of hype surrounding it. It's been a bit too quiet for my liking. The calm before the storm, or do people just not give a damn?

This will be because there is no trailer, no news, no details nor pretty much anything else to talk about, yeah?

Yup. The most common reaction when I ask what someone thinks about GTAIV is "That was a good game" (or something along those lines), so at the moment, the name doesn't give out the message "NEW GTA!". People seem to think GTAIV is Vice City.

The problem with that is, in the past, you'll usually hear people talking about the next in the series (which is almost surely on the way) even before the game is even announced. Example being, we always knew there was going to be a halo 3, or a Mario for Wii, waaaay before these games even get to the point of being announced, details given, etc.
There's games which sell on name alone, and which generate hype in the same way. I just, I can't remember the last time I really heard someone get excited about the prospect on a new GTA, in the same way that they would for a halo or final fantasy, etc.
I think you will see the hype in 12 days 2 hours and 1 minute.

I would die to see Rockstar do something like Nintendo would.
They never take risks, unless they have a back up, tried and tested forumlae works.

19-03-2007, 04:22 AM
I suppose so. But GTA 3/Vice City/San Andreas all outsold Wind Waker and got far more critical acclaim. So there's something to be said for sticking to the tried and tested.

If you're going to change the formula, I feel that you have to do it either relatively early or late on in the franchises life. What would happen if the next Fifa was cel shaded? What would happen if something drastic was done to it? It would either alienate past lovers of the series, fans, it would meet disapproval. In another few years, if sales of Fifa were dropping, then you might do a thing or two to change it somewhat. Drastically, if need be.
I can't see Rockstar changing GTA's formula, unless sales started to go down. As Cox says, sales have been high, so as long as sales stay high Rockstar will keep things the same. If the next GTA flopped though, you never know what they'll do.

I agree, it's kinda sad though that they (probably) won't change the formula as I have found the Stories series actually quite dull. Their missions are becoming the equivalant of fetch quests on RPGs, you see them from a mile off, and you just have to slog through it in the hope that something good while be round the corner. For VCS, there was just another "go there, shoot him" intersparsed with some dialogue that isn't even that humourous anymore.
I got VCS on the presumption that as it was GTA game it would be good, but it is really very mundane, which I am glad to see has been recognised in the media. But as you said, I doubt they care if their games get 7s or 10s as long as it sells, which it will.
In fact, I'd wager that this next trailer will probably pan out with the protagonist with a massive gun, with a helicopter trailing behind him.

GTA gets boring fast.
I can see it turning into the next FIFA to be honest, though with testers that don't miss all the software flaws.

I'm only looking forward to it on the 360 mainly because of the achievements. I can only wonder what they do with them, will they do the same as Crackdown, with driving and other ones. I can only think they will.
If there wasnt any achievements on the game I think I would just go and buy the ps2 versions. No point in the same game with better visuals, and I could get it cheaper.

I'll have to say PC now, because I don't have/am planning to buy a 360 or PS3 anytime soon. But since my pc is already more than 3 years old I doubt it can run GTA 4 (going to get a new one/upgrade this year though). Unless the 360 costs €300 or less when GTA4 is released, I'll stick with the pc version, if not I'll buy a 360 + GTA 4 + many other games I would really like to play on the 360 :P

2 disks?? Wouldn't it fit in a 9 GB DVD? And GTAs don't usually have FMV.
It would be bad.

I've heard from highly reliable sources (My gran's aunt's cleaner's pet's teacher's boyfriend's cousin-in-law's minion) that GTA IV will be based in the Sahara Desert, which will be an exact replica, with never ending desert.

360, because I don't own a PS3, 360 rocks anways and I rarely buy computer games that require a keyboard or gamepad, I stick to games such as Age of Empires and Diablo, the greatest PC games ever.
