It's a bit low-rez, but it's better than the images we had before, and it's to the scale of a DS screen too

Looks pretty damb amazing if you ask me. Thy've really thought about how you can make a game differently on the DS. Most developers are still treating DS, and PSP like a home console, but by simply finding different ways of creating the graphics, you can do things that aren't possible on a home console. The pre-rendered backgrounds is an excellent idea, and it works with something like the DS because the screen is small.

Rounding out the announcements is the Nintendo DS game Archaic Sealed Heat. It will arrive just in time for the holidays and follows the story of a female sword fighter named Aisha that was once a queen until her castle burned down.
Sweet. I want to see more of this.

EDIT Nevermind this is like a year and a half old topic geez.

EDIT Nevermind this is like a year and a half old topic geez.well... depends of what you consider in-game.

they are pre-rendered and we've known that since... one year and a half. But that's pretty much everything we know.

All the attacks are basically pre-rendered animations; you choose them and they come into play, they've never shown it in action, but each animation must end in a standard position so the next one blends in.

if they manage to make it fluid... it's going to be a very pretty FMV RPG. It's "pre-rendered in-game" if you will.

It was announced today that it'll come to US at least:

I think this was announced about two E3's ago. At the time there was nothing on the DS like it, but now... its not as amazing but still above alot of what is out there.

If it really is like that, it looks better than most Wii games.

Either way its something the DS can easily handle. I've seen the same sort of battle CGI applied to Dynasty warriors, and I was amazed by it.

- You will be playing as Queen Aisha
- The Queen is hunting down an ancient flame. This flame turns anyone who touches it to ash, but that person’s memories/personality are held within.
- These qualities can be extracted from the flame somehow, and manifested in ashen form
- The game controls entirely with the stylus
Finall new info, now some footage please

ASH seems to be shaping up to be a way better game than I expected. maybe it's going to be one of those unnoticed gems like Tetrisphere, Mole Mania, Mystical Ninja and Drill Dozer.

I've been digging Final Fantasy 9 recently and this game reminded me so much of it. No wonder, since they have the same producer: the guy who created Final Fantasy. Plus, the composer seems to have good credentials (a few Final Fantasys, Vagrant story, Final Fantasy tactics, etc.).
Everything is pointing to the high quality of this game.

Same here, due to the the graphics design, it being an RPG and because it is compulsory to do so.

Is there any information on the battle-system? Because the images are making me confused. You see the battle from a top-down perspective while you see your enemies from the front? Sounds exciting, no matter what.

And by the way, the artworks in the upper left corner of the latest scan remind me of Hayao Miyazaki's works...

Jonnas

I saw the trailers and like what I see.

I just hope that this game is more strategy oriented than Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. And by that I mean:

-Chapters wih decent difficulty. The ones in FFTA were so easy it wasn't even funny;

-None of that "level up till you're uber strong" crap. That ruins much of the difficulty in RPGs. Fire Emblem did this perfectly by giving us limited exp.

The only reason I'm comparing this game to Final Fantasy is because of the developers, obviously.
That's where my fear comes from.
