The time is nigh for university applicants for the 2006 year, so what are all of you applying for that are intending to go? Where are you applying at? Defering entry? To start the ball rolling...

I am applying for medicine at Manchester, Hull/York, Liverpool and Sheffield. Im defering until 2007 so i can earn a bit of cash and travel around (hopefully!) and just take a year off from learning.

Go!

Just come home from the Open Day at Luton university actually, was impressed considering most of my friends claim its a shit hole. The talk held by one of the Deans did make me laugh, he was trying to sell the town, and its nothing like he said and he had a nice image of the town centre that looked photoshopped.

I'm planning on taking a Computer Game based course, Luton does a Computer Games Development Bsc Hons Degree which I'm very interested in, and only 120 UCAS points from 2 A levels. I'm also going to apply for Computer Science at the University of East Anglia, which has the option of a Games Track in the second year, thats 280 points from 3 grades. Another place is the City University London, and thats Computer Science with Games Technology, and thats 300 points from 3 A levels. Though I'll apply for London its highly unlikely if I get in, that I'll go there.

I feel comfortable with my life as it is, and don't intend on going far for university, and when a good course is on my doorstep, with a promising rather new university I might as well take it.

I applied last year and deferred my entry (no top up fees :D) for Derby - Film and TV Studies. Going to an open day in half term cause last time I went you had to book trips to the halls of residence and I didn't, but will this time.

I would enjoy a course such as Film Studies or Computer Game Design, but that's frowned upon and as a consequence I will be, with some reluctance, applying to read Politics at Warwick, York or Durham.

Peh to people frowning upon it, do something that you want to do as you're paying buttloads of money for it and have to be there for three years. Uni courses are all about transferable skills now anyway, such as giving presentations, writing reports etc , so that if you get a Media degree you don't only have to do a job in the media.

Oh and its not all fun, the essays are huge and intense and require a lot of work. For my A level coursework I watched one 50ish minute program and read around 30 books (not every part of the books but you get my drift).

you should do a degree you'll enjoy and hopefully will lead to a job you will enjoy too, alternatively you can do computer science or something and specialise in programming and game design. And as its such a vast degree you'll be able to get jobs in practically every computer job field

It's really not that easy. I'm looking at AAA in History, Politics and English. It's expected that I will continue such success.

Well uni is also supposed to challenge you, so no use doing something easy. At the end of the day its your decision of course, and I wish you monsters. (Thats a good thing, trust me. buffy reference.)

Unless advised otherwise, I'll be applying to Windsor University, Ottawa University, and perhaps some others for 'English Literature and Creative writing'. Once I earn my Bachelor of Arts degree, I'll have a go at writing scripts for games or movies or enter journalism. If I can't seem to fit in or am unhappy, I'll be going to teachers college (if needed) and teach some little fuckers in high school english.

I've just started uni and I'm not happy at all. Basically, the uni is a pile of shite and I'm too good for it. I'm applying now for better unis next year as I know I can get in. Applying for Manchester (1st choice), Leeds (2nd choice), Lancaster, Nottingham and Liverpool. Done all the UCAS shite, just got to wait for a reference from my 6th form tutor.

I'm in a very difficult situation right now. I have no idea what course I want to do at Uni, I have no idea where to go, and I don't even know if I really want to go either. I'm supposed to be writing my personal statement, but can't think of what to write because I don't know what course to aim for. And on top of all of that, my AS grades were terrible so I doubt I'll actually be able to go anyway. I wish I knew what to do but I'm so confused and I haven't had any useful advice from anyone I've spoken to. :(

Sorry I can't help andrew... Who have you talked to? Is there a careers advisor available to you?

my personal problem is the personal statement. I did a half-draft which reads a bit like a life story. I kinda know what I need to say but I don't know how to start. Anyone got any tips?

S'ok, I've spoken to my tutor and my parents so far, but the careers advisor is always busy.

I'm actually starting to consider going to college after my A levels, to do some sort of computer course. I'm looking for something which essentially deals with hardware and networking because I wouldn't mind becoming an IT technician.

Only because of the leak.

It is! I went to a foam party on Friday night. You get to feel people up and they don't mind. Then I went to the toilet and touched myself until I was tired. I went to sleep in the cubicle after that.

I'm not sure whether to do an English degree or an Art Foundation course... so I'll just apply for both ^_^ Applying for Brighton and Sussex.
