Completely depends on what you want to use it for.

As Sanchez said, it all depends on what you want to use it for.
Gaming? Noo.
I use mine as a computer that:
Looks great (I have it plus a nice looking LCD monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse. It just looks great)
Doesn't make alot of noice.
Do "normal" but not high end stuff on.

Wow. That computer is now on my wishlist. I've always loved smaller, compact devices. Roadkill, do you still have that little computer cube of yours? Did you build that yourself?

I would save up for the imac... save to stick with a popular line... how is the mini selling? I think i read they are going to discontinue the emac so stay away from that. I would save up and get the imac dude.

I thought it was a CD player when I first saw it.
In retrospect in would probably be better suited.
EDIT - If you want some small computing fun - build your own cube. Its abit bigger then a Mini, but for a start its x86. And also you can put what ever the hell you like in it.

Nah, Halo needs at least a DirectX9B GPU to run. Which includes the Geforce FX5x00 series and Radeon 9X00 series. So no, sadly.

The Mac Mini's have got Radeon 9200's in them, so they are more than capable of handling Halo. I can even run Halo on my Radeon 7000.
Apparently, Apple are going to be upgrading the Mac Mini's over the coming months, so it may be worth waiting a short while so you get more bang for your buck.

Halo runs fine on my 1.42ghz 512 RAM mini. I think Apple are giving you 1.5ghz Minis even though they say 1.42 now, not sure if it's confirmed though.

I was watching the gadget show adn they recomened NOT to get it.
You dont get, like with regular macs, a screen too .
that 350 quid is just the tower, then there's A monitor--> 450 keyboard and mouse you could be costing yourself nearly 500 quid

We should do away the mods, and have someone write a script which automatically replies to any topic related to buying or upgrading a PC/Mac with:
"BUILD ONE YOURSELF LOL REALLY EASY SAVE MONEY LOL"

He's right, just build your own/ pay someone to build your own pc, that way you will only pay for things you want.

Got a PC problem? Starting a clan? In need of Mobile Phone-related help? Or just want to know the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R? Talk it all out here! Mac users will be laughed at.
That explains that
There would be no point in having a 'Tech Board' if these threads were not created.

Didn't the gadget show also say the DS was crap? I've seen 1 in Pc world with flat screen monitor, mouse + keyboard for £459 or thereabouts so you know. What are the possible near-future upgrades?

Intel Processor 2006 or 2007.
G5 processor?
No one really knows. I doubt they'll be any major upgrades.
It's just minor things that worry me about Macs, one being I need to do school work at home and my school uses keep and ugly computers with Windows XP. So is there any Office-type package on the Mac ocmpatible with XP?

You can get Microsoft Office for the Mac. Apparently it's better than the PC, I've not used it though. I use Open Office which rules, completely compatible with MS Office documents.

I think the new iMacs are..£899? Worth it I think, not a computer nerd so I don't know much. I think the slowest Mac Mini is 1.42ghz..

I sold it to Popo to make money (although he hasn't paid me yet grr), it was a barebones machine, that is to say it came with the power supply, the motherboard and the custom heatsink you need for the CPU, and you bought the other bits and fitted them.
Oh and as for the Mac Mini; Aopen have their competition, the Pandora:

No, it's a PowerPC 1.5ghz is really good. Clock speed doesn't matter much anymore. AMD have shown that, they have a relatively small clock speed but an amazing performance.

I was answering #1cubeplayers question, give me a break, I thought that it might pique people's interest in the Pandora.
It won't be that slow as long as you stick to regular tasks that Apple think you should be doing on the Mac Mini.

You can get MS Office 2004 for the mac, and MSN Messenger for the mac.
The mini mac doesn't come with a monitor, keyboard or mouse - you can provide those.
The iMac (obviously) has everything built in for the price. Currently they are clocked at 1.9 and 2.0Ghz... G5 chips. The G5 has heaps more grunt than the G4. There's also no understating the quality of the widescreen display.
Having said that, the mini mac's 1.42Ghz CPU is comparible to the PowerBook range, and is pretty handy. RAM has more of a bearing than CPU really, and I think the mini macs ship with 512Mb as standard... am I right?
Both systems come with lashings of software: OS X, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, Mail, GarageBand, XCode, iTunes, Quicktime, Safari etc etc which really adds a hell of a lot of value to the price tag.
RoadKill, what do you mean by:
