I want to see something new - it needs to have enough improvements to the series for a sequel to III. (Vice City and San Andreas were too similar to III...the series started getting stale at VC, if four is similar again, it would just be a very stale formula by that point).

Just remove the urban ghetto shit and it will be all ok. Hopefully they'll improve the flying, a bit more customisation, and remove the eating rubbish.

As long as they remove or cut down a bit on the urban gangs inc Ballas that will be an improvement. Also i would like to see Rockstar give us a choice for our character so we can choose if he/she is either black or white.

Improve the flying, add some more assets that actually have things to do inside. I don't mind if they include the main characters family/friends for story missions like in SA. And take out the g/f's that require your body to be different sizes which did drive me bonkers.

As for the size and time area for the game, maybe a little bigger than SA but set in either the 80's or in a modern era. And add a Zoo and make it more realisic by having more trains in the game either sitting in sidings (like cars in carparks that you can "borrow") or moving along the rails at more regular intervals. And have ships arriving and leaving port and planes landing and taking off from airports, which would be nice.

I really want missons to appear in areas that you have 'completed', if that makes sense. For example, after I opened the second lot of missions in San Andreas I hardly ever went back to 'Da Grove'...or whatever it is called!

I would also like more, and seemless, indoor environments!

As I said before, I would like a zoo and maybe even a theme park!

LOADS of ragdoll physics so when I run people over it makes it worth my while.

The ability to shoot wheels out quicker so cars flip over...like in Crackdown!

Proper crowd physics...i.e. people not throwing themselves infront of my car when I drive near them. When I blow something up I want people to clambering over each and trampling the fallen in a bid to stay alive!

I would like some recognition from the world when my character happens to take over three cities.

I want a Dead Rising type thing where you can use anything you want as a melee weapon!

I would love it to be set in modern day London, but I very much doubt that...maybe they could have two cities like London and new York and you could travel between them. That would rock!

A GTA MMO would quite possibly be the worst idea for a MMO possible. The only thing GTA should do online is some sort of "Gang-War" thing - 4 gangs get bases (in a smaller version of the city), and they have to take over the bases of all the other gangs.

Yeh, you're right. Don't agree with them other two saying that it'll just be good old GTA but just next-gen'd up with amazing cut-scenes etc. There's got to be some major advancements on the formula, and Rockstar know that after seeing slow sales of the PSP games, and because of the increased competition with other franchises that have recently come about like Saints Row and Crackdown.

They need something unique to set them apart from those games, and others that are bound to come out this year as well.

The main difference between GTA 4 and Saints Row/Crackdown is that GTA doesn't look like it came out of a cat's ass.

And GTA IV is the original of these types of games. Though the graphical style of Crackdown i think is okay, GTA (Since III) has always been trying to be realistic.

I'm very disappointed in the fact they've chosen New York AGAIN, but in my experience of playing GTA, the city doesn't really even matter. It's not like they'll be using the same map as the previous GTA games which used New York.

Traffic jams in a video game would ruin the playability.

Ralistic traffic jams, as in traffic jams happening where and when they would in real life, would make the city more realistic. If it was 9:00 in the morning and you were doing a mission you wouldn't go through Time Sq because it would be packed so you would have to look for an alternate route. It would be way better than looking for the shortest mathematical distance between 2 points! It would also be a really good way of making the player use the whole city instead of the easiest/biggest/mostdirect route!

Location
The game will take place in a version of New York State. The name of the state is unknown. I've always said it might be called New Liberty, because it looks like they are continuing the trend of "fake" cities/state names. Liberty City will be part of this state, but as we can see, there is much more to this state than just LC. Liberty City itself has not changed, aside from the obvious graphical upgrade. Now, anyone remember Shoreside Vale in GTA 3 and LCS? It had tunnels inside it's mountains, that were blocked off. These tunnels lead to the other sections of this un-named state, that LC is in. In LCS, there is a sign that says "Upstate". So we can assume that the game will take place in an entire state, which includes Liberty City. We can also assume that there will be countryside, including the mountains in LC. Don't get pissed because we're going back to LC again, there will be much more to the map. And for all you know, we might visit other cities/states/countries anyway. The Empire State Building is in the trailer, along with the Statue of Liberty, as well as various other well known New York landmarks, most of which we never saw in LC/GTA 3.

LC is most likely not changing in GTA IV, we're probably just seeing what lies beyond it. There is also a lot being added to it, but the basic map design seems to be the same. Of course we're going to see new buildings like the Empire State Building, but that's just because many of the taller buildings in GTA 3 where throwaway's, and most of them were not even complete models, nor were they fully solid, so thats why they did that. They patched up the incomplete models by replacing them altogether, and creating new connections to NY in the process. What else is in this state? We can tell there's a GTA version of the Statue Of Liberty, a funpark including a rollercoster, and much more. These are all most likely outside of LC, not part of it.

i can't see why everyone is moaning for as nothgin apart from location has been revealed! it may be liberty city but as someone said earlier liberty city may proberly only be one of the places.
i think its cool playing as a russian guy as you havn't played as one before. as long as they improve the shooting and drviing mechanics i will be very happy with the game even IF it does end up with nothing innovative. I say this as the only possible way i can think of improving San Andreas is with better controls adn graphics as it practially had everything else

...You cant really compare Sonic with GTA. Sonic has got loads of history and is a huge character driven franchise - Things like Sonic Riders, Racing games, Platforms etc..Sonic has done a lot.

GTA is about one thing, and one thing only. You're not gonna see like "GTA Party" anytime soon...

I think people were too ambitious with their expectations before this trailer was revealed.

There's hardly to be any drastic changes, as they've got a winning formula. Maybe in the next game or the one after, we'll see. The trailer would only act as a teaser, as well. You will not gain a lot of information from this, but in the future via press releases, news and previews you'll get a better picture.

Also, some of you were, again, a bit over ambitious with the location of the game. Sure, it may 'only' be New York or something, but you want quite a busy city where there's a lot to do. There's only about 4 or 5 locations that would really suit this style of gameplay, and when I think of GTA, I think American gun crime. Again, in the future, they may opt to go for somewhere like Tokyo, who knows.
