On the other hand, with PSP you just buy the one unit. If you buy a video ipod you'll still need a seperate gaming device - plus Ipod=way more expensive than DS and PSP.

Still, you can hold more movies, so I'm all for the DS + iPod :).

them UMD's are a rip off, but its awquard downloading tons of stuff too, i'd buy a portable DVD player if i wanted to whach movies on the street although i would prefer psp with its screen. Its all complicated! lol

The thing is, there have been plenty of portable video players around for a year or more, now; is the Video iPod really going to change the situation? It's a hard one to judge, up until now video players have not really broken out in the mainstream, will Apple's latest make the break-through or will demand prove insufficient?

If Apple can knock down the battery life problem I think they'll definately have a portable champion on their hands, if not, it'll most likely be luck-laster and forgotten.

Were you guys aware that a games interface was designed for the current iPod model? If the thing can now handle graphics then erm... think about it!

Video Ipod may help DS against PSP?Not directly... but play yan might just do the trick, and cheaper:

-> http://rapidshare.de/files/6169906/playyan_060905.mpg.html - 5,96 MB (6.252.548 bytes)
- click on the "free" button and wait for download -

Take a look at that video... seriously :)

I got the movie advance and with a little download of some ripping software for getting the rights bits off dvd's (which, by the way, a 3 year old could use) i stick with my ds. Got it all there

It may do, then you realise you get 2 hours video playback on the 30gig ipod and 3 hours on the 60gig. While PSP atleast lasts 3-5hours. Not much of a difference, but PSP has seperate battery packs to use, ipod does not (well at the moment for video)

Nintendo are dead :(then go somewhere else, reported.

If you want to... post that in all the threads in this forum/board, that's what I call spam though; contructive is it? I doubt a moderator would agree in that, posting the exact same phrase in various threads at once... that's very constructive indeed...

I am engrossed by this discussion!I had already reported it when I posted it :(

Dont worry about it though, it's needed a lot of reports to have any serious effect; that or lots of insulting; I was mistaken and thought you were doing something you weren't, the mods will also understand that, also you're a regular with more posts than me, not some noob who registered to spam.

Sorry about the report though :(

It was bloody obvious from when they showed the PSP at E3 04 that it wasn't quite going to meet every promise. It's great at playing games, but all of the other features just don't work efficiently. You have to watch movies on UMD which costs more than DVD, and can only be viewed on you PSP. The only other movie formats are things like Mpeg 4 which is not gonna look brilliant considering it has to fit onto the 32MB memory stick. Then the music also has to go on the memory stick as well as the games saves too. And connecting to the net isn't straight forward enough, and html browsing is difficult without a keyboard or mouse. The next generation PSP will get it better. Though despite saying all of that, I wouldn't get an iPod either. The screen is still too small. It's like MPeg 4 players, the screen is just too small. portable cinema is going to take a long time to kick off, because it's limited in size.

Looks like some other sites share same view http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=12276

PSP will have to fight on two fronts.

This can only help DS as Sony will have to follow Ipod's lead by releasing video player of their own.

Then where will that leave PSP UMD movies?

Having no TV output was a big mistake, another was not supporting UMD movies on PS3.

UMD movies will swiftly become another proprietary dodo much like minidisc which couldn't crack mainstream market.

MP3 did this by assimilating itself to all leading storage media. Divx et all will do the same for Video.

Minidisc never became mainstream for Home, car or portable use.

Same will happen with UMD.

Sony games so far only Ape PS2 in variety and content.

DS has it licked in this department.

Just a shame that basically every ds game shares the same type of graphics. Im styarted to get a bit bored of this stylis thing.

Think yourself lucky. I still only have GBA/SP graphics! :o

Wanna swap?

Still undecided on PSP.

Will wait for Nintendo's true response.

im not bored of the stylus at all, i mean advance wars can be used with the stylus or dpad, so you can swap and change, if you want, which i do.
