Just saw these announced on the ERSB website today thanks to nintendowiifanboy today, god i was hoping the original turtles for the NES would be released! It was so bloody hard!! But rewarding:grin:
I remember myself and my dad playing through it when i was 8 or 9 and him getting as far as the tunnel before Shredder, oh so close... the tears:weep:

Anyone else own this back in the day? Happy to see it on Virtual Console?

(And Zombies Ate My Neighbors too, musn't forget that  )

I have the vaguest memories of the Turtles on the NES, I can just remember it being quality though. Is it out on the VC this weekend? I'll most probably download it if it is/ whenever it does come out.

cause the first nes one was rubbish

First one was brilliant... Of course, I know that it is nostalgia that affects my opinions. :)

i always liked the original TMNT better than the sequels. It had the exploration element and was less repetitive than the beat em ups. Never could finish it though

It was sooooo hard, and very frustrating. But it just kept you coming back. I liked it because there was a real challenge there. One of the few games I played but neer finished!

I completed it on the NES and on the spectrum! Geez that must have been a long time ago!

How many levels were in Zombies anyway? I never completed that one, it just seemed to go on and on!

Wow, you must be like the gaming god! what was the ending like?

Wow, you must be like the gaming god! what was the ending like?

Far from it... i think it was just that in those days I had only two games to play, TMHT and Skate or Die!

I remember that Shredder is the final boss, throwing ninja stars at you and also firing a green lazer that turned you into a normal turtle if it touched you (instant death)

Actually (this was such a long time ago!) the last boss might have been that big circular tank thing the baddies used to drive around in with an eye on top.

I'll have to find a FAQ on it to see if I can refresh my memory. At the moment all i can remember is an ending screen showing the turtles eating pizza and pulling faces.

Edit: Technodrome!!

The box boasted there were 55 levels.

True, the exploration element was incredible my nostalgia remembers, i wonder if i'd have the patience for it these days...
Thank god for the suspend game feature!

Unfortunately no, but considering it's on the ERSB page it shouldn't be too long away.

Unfortunately neither IGN and Gamespot looked back too fondly on TMNT with scores of 5.5 and 2.7 respectively.

He didn't need to swear so much but yes I do agree with everything he said about the game. Was far too hard for kids. Althoughafter re-playing it a short time ago I actually realised I found it easier as a kid. Who knows how many hours of my childhood I wasted playing that thing.

Notice that it is the standard VC filing because it's done by Nintendo, it couldn't mean anything else. There's a little more, this week its sequel Ghoul Patrol also got a rating:

lucasartsgames Zombies Ate My Neighbors is now on Wii's Virtual Console in America and Europe on Friday. If you haven't played, you must. A total classic.
