Well it's just around the corner all kicks off on Monday, March 5 with:

Continental Breakfast
8:30 - 10AM

Miyamoto is doing a keynote speech, as is Phil Harrison of Sony and he confirmed on the 1up Show, that he will be making more than 1 announcement. So we can expect the same from Miyamoto whose speech is entitled "A Creative Vision", to perhaps make some announcements to, his speech is on Thursday, March 8, 2007 10:30 - 11:30 AM

maybe a bit premature to start this thread now, but what do people think will be / want to be announced? Put your predictions in here. guess stuff can go in on here as it gets announced.

I'd like to see Mario and Metroid dated, plus some news of the online service for the Wii (please something even if it is just a simple update for the address book). thats all really keeping my desires low key so if theres anything more I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I just want more news on Super Smash Brothers Brawl, some video, screens, maybe a date... A date for Mario would be nice too, but I'm more looking forward to SSBB.

Last year alot of Virtual Console info was revealed. And this year looks to be the same.

Though any news would be pretty good, I doubt Miyamoto will give us all that much.

I wonder how Nintendo will replace their E3 show/press conference. I mean, they have to do something, don't they?

i wouldnt expect too much screen or video related stuff from his speach.
id expect to see alot of history related topics in terms of what nintendo has done over the years when creating video games.

He'll get up there, say how innovation succeds, talk about the success of the Wii and DS, maybe hint to a new channel or two, then call it a day.

GDC don't really give much information to consumers, it's aimed at developers., we didn't really get anything at last years one from Iwata.

I'm not really expecting much now, but I'm sure that as the date draws nearer, I'll get more excited about it (and then I'll be disappointed when it's just Miyamoto going on about how succesful the DS and Wii have been).

I know I wasn't expecting much either, but with E3 gone (know theres other shows ready to step up) so thought this could have taken more emphasis and just the fact that Sony plan to make some announcements.....

Now that you mention that, I think Miyamoto might reveal things about a plan to let indie developers release stuff on the Virtual Console. That would be quite interesting for us as well.

That's the type of thing that they'll announce at GDC, which is very good news for us, but its really for developers.

Yes, IGN Matt mentioned something about this. He also said there could be new Channels for us to learn about also.

If there's just a little bit of news about something decent then i'll be happy, just don't wanna get my hopes up for no reason.

Phantom Hourglass details?
Proper Zelda Wii snippet?

I'm expecting for them to say at least the specs.

I'm expecting for them to say at least the specs.

Why? That the idiots can "discuss*" about them? Developers know them and that's more than enough.

I'm putting money on a trailer of some sort for a new game or a highly anticipated one.

GDC 2005: Twilight Princess Trailer 2
GDC 2006: Phantom Hourglass
GDC 2007: ? (My money's on Galaxy)

It is the Game Developers Conference after all so I hope Nintendo make full use of this event to gather even more third party support for Wii.

d) Kid Icarus Wii
e) Battlefield Star Fox

Come on people, where's the hype in this thread?

My money (000000000.2p + £4 gamestation voucher) is on something innovative. Its a conference for game developers and so will be something to impress and inspire them.

Wii health pack or Wii music or something uniquely wii. FAB new ideas for controller.

Better be something.. X360 is might cheap now and PS3 launching here too.

hahaha, there we go in the 1st page we have gone from one extreme to another from people thinking there will be nothing because it is a developers fair (which I half agree with, I don't expect a ton of news, but something) then we have you who is taking things to a whole new level.

I'll throw Mario Kart into the mix just for the hell of it.

OK this would make me happy and would also create enough hype to deter people from buying PS3s in the same month.

New mega firmware upgrade announced, which adds all features originally promised
WiiConnect24 fully functional, including the online service
Zelda Wii
Indie content on the Virtual Console
Price cuts in the Virtual Console
Mario Kart Wii Online

b) Yes please!
c) Not with that name
d) Have any of these people who have an orgasm at every mention of Kid Icarus ever actually played it?
e) What?

Realistically, I don't think we should be expecting much. Hopefully there will be some more news on Galaxy as it's been quiet for ages.

e) What?

He seems to want a Bettlefield-style StarFox game. I want an on-rails one, as it's what suits the series.

You bring up a good point. I've played it and it's ok, I don't think it was anything spectacular, just solid, think it's because it's such a well remembered and much loved title that everyone craves a new one.

Heh, yeah, Kid Icarus has aged pretty badly... Make d) Mario Kart Wii, much better idea

NOTHING new will be shown or announced. Thats my bet. We've been here too many times before in the last 2 years.

Oh hang-on...where was Phantom Hourglass first shown? if it's GDC then OK...there could be....but don't get your hopes up guys! :awesome:

I can come into the thread and hype it all up and get extremely excited still if you want me too, i'm able to do it. Just ask....for a small fee mind. ;)

Pffft. Nintendo need to start showing the devs that the Wii can have pretty looking games. Metroid and Mario are looking to do that but they need to pull their fingers out and actually SHOW some new footagge. Not to mention Day of Disaster and others.

Some here are expecting WAY to much.

My realistic expectations:

1) New Super Smash Brawl trailer with Sonic confirmed as new character.
2) Metroid Prime 3 confirmed online. To be released this fall.
3) More details on improved online system (some Xbox Live features).
4) Plans for Wii-DS connectivity.
5) New gameplay features in Mario Galaxy. Confirmed for christmas.
6) Original content on Virtual Console coming.

When is this GDC happening again?

Jamba

5-9 of March. For future reference, Gamesindustry.biz has a good little box showing all industry events coming up.

Ren: Good and realistic suggestions there, although I only expect one or two of those rather than all of them.

Well that has already started with the pokemon games and thats it.

1)A new Brawl trailer - doubt it. They would save that for their main press conference around july.
2)Metroid prime 3 could be - but it would probably realease that info around their man press conference. Note: at DICE Reggie said "online maybe perfect to you". Therefore if you read into it you could presume that they aren't adding it.
3)They could but I doubt it.

No.5 & 6 Definately should be mentioned in his keynote speech.

seems like IGN (matt and mark especially) are wanting some virtual console info. Wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo announced some brand new downloadable games, kinda like what you can download on xbox live.

I think there's a big possibility they might open up on some online info for the Wii, but focus on the developer's side. After all, how many third party titles have announced online gameplay?

I hope this proves to be the case, xbox live has them, PS3 will-the likes of Calling all Cars looks awesome...

I just hope we get some release dates confirmed, because at the moment my brand new £180 console is sat on a shelf gathering dust, only being used for the odd bout of Wii Tennis. The fact that there doesn't seem to be a lot on the horizon depresses me somewhat.
