PS2 for Youth Club

I have been asked at the local youth club where I help out to look at buying a PS2 to replace the ageing PSone they have. I was wondering what the best games would be for this situation - the club has boys and girls aged between 10-15 years of age. They should be multiplayer and offer decent replay value.

If any of you can help I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions. :smile:

If you want multiplayer, you should consider also investing in a GameCube - it's dirt cheap now (about £20?). GameCube offers far better multiplayer games as well.

Sorry I can't help on the PS2 front.

A GameCube is much more fun for younger people, and it will save you at least 50 quid from buying a PS2. Smash Bros and Mario Kart are good games to get with it.

Smash bros would give the kids loads of fun but on the ps2, maybe SSX TRicky, thats pretty fun in mulitplayer. Gran Turismo. Well thats basically the mulitplayer games my brother has got on his ps2. Maybe some sports games like Fifa or Pro Evo. Maybe Madden NFL 07.

Yeah, the PS2 doesn't have a lot of multiplayer games and even then it's restricted by the two controller ports.

Point taken, but I'm more experienced with the TS one, and you can't have bots in FarCry, which make it a bit more interesting offline.

I find the problem with the ps2 is having to go out of your way to play multiplayer with more than two people. The burnout series is quite fun. Maybe have a look at trying to get super monkey ball since that always has great party games included.

Fierce_LiNk, A multitap is indeed a possibility.

They want a PS2, as that is what they have explicity asked for. They have said they wanted something to complement my Wii. Besides, they have dancemats which they have used on the PSone.

Regarding rokhed00, no I don't think I'll be buying anything related to that Terrible Tadpole. If the PS2 thing goes ahead I'll be the one buying the games.

Tekken Tag/5 is always fun. Soul Caliber 2/3 also, TS2/FP, Burnout 3 are also good.

And if they let you, GTA:SA co-op mode is a bit of a laugh.

Ok, so a multitap is a possibility, eh? I can't name that many 4 player games, but there should be some cool party games.

Off the top of my head:

Tekken Tag Tournament (for a fighter)
Pro Evo something (everyone loves footie games)
GT3
One of the gtas. They're want to kill anything that moves. :p
Maybe one of the WWE games? 4 players, that'd be a blast.

Any of the Buzz games, they are surprisingly fun. Also any of the Smackdown games, they are a blast with 4 players. And Eyetoy Play.

Good list, imo.

Not really sure how I can add to that. Maybe one of the SSX games, tricky for example. I enjoyed that, and its a pretty cool game to just pick up and play. Maybe a Tony Hawks title, too?

I went out today and bought a black slimline PS2 with Buzz! The Sports Quiz (and buzzers), second controller, memory card (both first party, I don't trust third-party accessories!) and a few pre-owned games (Crash Tag Team Racing, Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge and Tekken 5). And they didn't take the PSone in as I wasn't given a controller to trade in as well! :shakehead

I know none of you suggested any of those, but I'll certainly look for them again when I am asked to buy new PS2 games in the future. :)

I got the PSone controller last week and traded in the PSone console. Got £8 for it, so used it as part-ex for some pre-owned PS2 games.
