Let the good times roll :)
Apple shipped 1,236,000 Macs and 6,451,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 48 per cent growth in Macs and 220 per cent growth in iPods over the year-ago quarter.

Oh lord... People buying into iPod nano. Only to realise their screen becomes so scratched the can't read anything on the screen! Nice one Apple. Its all about the image they have. They've made computers "cool" along with people who buy 20GB iPods or Mini's or Nano's just to put 3 songs on to look cool infront of their friends.
*sigh* I actually donated money to: www.smashmyipod.com . A guy in America is going to buy an iPod in the middle of the apple store, take it out and smash it in the middle of the store. Ohhh that should be fun :P It's all being recorded too.
I just can't help but hate Apple, their shoddy customer service record in the US and Europe doesn't exactly help.

I think that the iPod is some of the most overhyped shit ever. It is a stylish miniture HDD that plays audio. There are much better players out there - but because they are'nt "cool" they dont get a look in.
As for the Macs, i dont mind them - i would even consider getting one.

iMac G5 & OS X - Best PC I've ever owned.
Apple Customer service - amazing, in my experience
I don't think I'll ever understand why they are so hated... they make the best quality user experience around, and yet people seem to hate them for it.

That's just stupid. If you dont like it, dont buy it.
Why dont you donate your money to something that has meaning ie cancer research/nspcc/rspca.
Haters seem to have the same mindset as fanbois.
Fucking pointless.

I don't hate Apple, i just think the iPod is overhyped to fuck. My iRiver, although it doesnt have the look - outguns iPod 20 gig version on ALL other fronts. Better battery, more formats supported, all types of file can be stored, have more equaliser settings, easier to tranfere music. I just wish people would see that style isnt everything.
And yeah, Jord, donating was pretty pointless :P

Jordan where do get you Apples rubbish Customer Service from, my brother bought an ipod from america, something went wrong he rang up apple europe and despite it being an iPod from America they happily said they would fix it.
They sent him a UPS box to put it in, UPS came and picked up from his house and they paid for all the delivery charges.

The macs are rubbish against real pc's. No comparison. You pay more and get less with your apple.

Way to start another "Mac vs. PC" debate asshat.

lol.
Depends what comparison you are making.
I've certainly got more out of OS X that I ever got out of any Windows or Linux box, so I don't really know where you are coming from.

Do you have a Mac and PC to compare them? No? Shut up then.
Jordan, how do you know they're customer service is terrible if you've never used it. You only hear about the bad side of it, like you do with anything.

I'll take a pc anyday. They only announced PCI express today for example. Apple lag behind pc's for performance.

You da man!
And Apple vs MS is getting so old, it's turning into a 'pc vs consoles'-type thing.
I personally dislike iPods, a friend of mine has just bought a nano and he recharges every day, just to be sure. If you make a routine out if it I don't suppose it'd be to much of a bother. Whereas my Creative MuVo TX gets 20 hours out of a single AAA battery (it's a flash player, for the record. Don't need too much space, USB 2.0 switches music around fast enough).
I especially dislike people showing their iPods off in a 'subtle' manner, like wearing their headphones above their shirts instead of running the wire through...shit like that makes me sigh.

Yeah, it gets to the point where people aren't comparing like with like. People buy Apple computers for a slick user interface experience and software functionality, not what raw stats are in it. PC gamers are a completely different set of people... Windows is a tolerable system that allows them to do what they want to do with the hardware they want.
Both have their place, just depends what your priorities are.

that's really pathetic.
i agree with schpickles, the interface is so smooth in os x, it does everything i want it to do with far less hassle than on a pc. i'm so happy to hear about the 48% increase in mac sales, seems like their "halo effect" is working :)

I wear my iPod headphones above my shirt because it's uncomfortable to put them under it. I'm going to upgrade pretty soon, monochrome displays are so yesterday!

I would choice a pc anyday just because the run the soft ware i like and seem more user friendly to me (as i only use pc's), about apple, the ipod has such a good name for it's self, that buying any other mp3 player just isn't cool, i am thiniking about buying a nano, i don't listen to much music, so it's more about the fact it looks nice, but i am worried that the screen will scratch.

Apple...
I'm one of those 'idiots' who bought an Ibook after the purchase of an Ipod20.
Now, I do have a PC (Athlon) and it gave me lots of trouble. The Ibook however never gave me any trouble so far and I'm downing movies, music whatever on it and play them on a plasma TV in pretty good quality. It takes some time to work with a Mac computer but it pays off big time! I'm really thinking of getting rid of my Athlon and get a Imac G5.

That's sort of the stage I got to. I pimped out my PC, tried everything I could with it OS-wise, and then when I got an iPod, realised that macs were really the way to go for me. When I realised the scope of the Unix support and free developer tools, I was sold.

There's a guy on the Smash my iPod forums who dislikes the iPod and makes many excuses against it; yet he loves his Powermac G5.
It's not all about Apple vs the world omg lol
