MoH died off ever since CoD arrived. The only MoH games I enjoyed were Frontline on PS2 and Allied Assault on PC.

This could be ok though.

Remember that this MOH is being developed by EA's new and dedicated Wii Studio (i'd assume, anyway), so it shouldnt just be another addition to a fairly unremarkable franchise. I would hope that the developers take time to sort the controls and add some randy new features too.

snore....again a game that could easily have been done on the gamecube with little effort, more and more I'm getting the feeling we won't see anywhere near the best out of the wii for many years to come.

Isn't this a PS2 port?

Yes probably. The Wii has shown its true colors as the premier PS2/PSP port machine.

The Wii has more than enough power to create new IP's and franchises but hey why bother when developers have all this PS2 code laying around.

I've not played a good MoH game on any console. I still play Allied Assault on PC though, fantastic game and best in the series imo.

On the one side, its a little disheartening to see developers/publishers not putting the effort in.

But, on the other side..how many shooters do we have for the Wii now? Red Steel, Far Cry (is that out yet?) and Call of duty 3, with this to look forward to, and Metroid Prime (depends whether you count that or not).

Gaining quite a collection, imo.

Far Cry came out at launch Flink.

I'm suprised to see how many people like frontline, that was the only one i've actually played, but it put me off playing any of the others.

There hasn't been a good MOH game since 2012 made Allied Assault.

EA are incapable at revitilising this franchise.

I think people may be saying more how the engine seems to just be a ported cube/ps2/xbox (which ever people think) with tacked on wii controls, rather than a brand new engine for the Wii, which is what should be happening. But as you say it is also coming to PSP will be interesting to see how good the PSP version looks for comparisons.

Nice comeback EA. The game looks promising, though MoH isn't a franchise that ever had trouble with graphics. The gameplay has been crap since Allied Assault/Frontline. The controls seem perfect though, which hopefully means it has been given some thought.

I hope the game looks a bit brighter on a normal TV though. I don't know what the hell went on in that vid.

A bit too dark in places, couldnt see what was happening. Though i gotta say, the lighting looks good. The parachute jumping sounds good to me, being able to change your starting location slightly.

IGN:

We've provided first Wii screenshots and video in our media section and we recommend that readers download and look them all over. From the opening real-time sequence, it's clear that Medal of Honor Vanguard employs a much more advanced 3D engine than Call of Duty 3 for Wii, which produced a decidedly washed out, drab look. In contrast, Vanguard boasts deep colors, advanced lighting effects (in darkened hallways, allied soldiers are illuminated with each bang of your gun and it looks amazing) and crisper textures, and in addition it's able to display action sequences with much more going on. This becomes evident from the very first drop into Holland, where players can see groups of other paratroopers floating downward as planes dogfight nearby. It looks very good -- a cut above most GameCube titles, which shouldn't be surprising since Wii is roughly twice as powerful. The game also runs in 480p and 16:9 on Nintendo's console and, according to EA, the Wii build sports improved graphics over its PlayStation 2 counterpart on top of enhanced controls.

Gamespots latest preview is stating to 'keep your eye on this one' as the Wii controls are working quite well.

Also the game has slightly better graphics then the PS2 version but both games are very well detailed and look sharp.

It's out 30th March 2007 in Europe (at the moment).

Fingers crossed it remains a solid title.

Looks like your average WWII shooter. It does look rather plain too visually but the video quality is bad. At least they bothered putting a multiplayer mode in, whether it's any good we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully the multiplayer maps are decent enough. If that's not any good I might not bother.

The graphics look ok. They are going to be Cube like, EA may had started working on this on Cube development kits. Wii dev tools will get better then we will see better graphics.

Don't hold out for 360 version, only on PS2 and Wii and I'd wager the Wii version is better.

Quit complaining about EA's support. Better than not having them on board, they're doing a good job with the Wii controls.

Just read through IGN's Preview (http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/773/773027p1.html), looks promising. I'll wait for reviews of both this an heatseeker before I decide which one to get, tho. The controls sound promising, too.

IGN say a problem is turning, then say "It's not as bad as Red Steel's turning". From that, it seems that MoHV's turning is more than great (as I found nothing wrong with turning in Red Steel)

mcj metroid
18-03-2007, 11:51 PM
red steel controls are far from perfect. I'm sure yes you do get used to them.. I did but really you should not have to. Everyone knows how you hold a gun and fire it but red steel makes you hold your hand and even at the lowest sensitivity level if you make a small move it moves far on the screen. It is a problem

The good: The wiimote controls are pretty good. And the 180 degree turn is a welcome addition.
The bad: They have mapped to much to the nunchuck, you may try to reload but your guy will do an 180 backflip. You reload, jump, chrouch, quickturn by moving around the nunchuck. The game isn't groundbraking in anyway, just another EA ww2 game.
The ugly:The graphics look ps2ish. granades don't destroy crates. ( I may be spoiled by "nextgen")

Cube

Controls are great. Ive made a few adjustments (removed motion control for jump/crouch & turn speed). Its quite fun, too. Graphics arent great, but they're not bad either.

For some reason it seems to have a TimeSplitters 'feel' about it. Except multiplayer. Sure, it has enough levels and modes, but bots would have been nice.

DiemetriX

cool. you can removed motion control for jump/crouch & turn speed. that should make it a lot easier to control.

Basically you can turn on/off:

- Jump/Crouch
- Quick Turn (although there's no other button for it)
- Reload
- Melee Attack

(I just turned off the Jump/Crouch, others work fine - well, melee attack ruins your aim, but that's probably the whole point). And you can also alter the turn speed of your character.
