Did anyone watch this tonight? I did and actually found that I quite liked it. Weird thing, it has the woman from extras in it, which I noticed on the advert but thought I was mistaken, kind of random and unexpected. I just finished watching the second episode too(ponline) and it had Dawn from The Office in it! Of course, none of this says much for the actual show, I can't really describe it, so I'll give a link to the first episode for anyone who didn't see it to watch.

Aw damn I missed it. I wanted to watch it regardless of the advertising, which I managed not to see. I just saw a review for the show in a magazine and it sounded interesting. And after going on about it at around 6 I managed to end up missing the whole thing.

The only time I ever finding myself laughing at sitcomes PERIOD is when you have some guy in the audience where they crack up laughing and really stand out. Thats funny, the material presented on TV, is not.

I wouldn't even say it's a sitcom, it's more of a comedy drama, a bit like how desperate housewives is. I think anybody who hasn't seen it should really give it a try, just because they put tons of advertising out for it, doesn't mean it's bad.

What you said, however is very funny when you hear someone guffaw, we had to watch Mr Bean (the exam one) at school one time and we were pissing ourselves because of one of the guys who was supposedly laughing at it. I really doubt those laughs are real because most of the time it isn't funny at all.

I came down and watched the last half hour of it, and my da actually said that its not an ugly person playing Betty, that she is really a hot person.

The way it was made I thought it was a movie. It just had all the makings of a movie to me, one of those shitty ones, not saying its shit, but like that new one employee of the month. It had the same kinda feel to it.

Interestingly, the show has spawned a Be Ugly in '07 (http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/life/20061221/d_bottomstrip21.art.htm) campaign. So the actor isn't ugly, but shes acting. Eric McCormack isn't gay, but that doens't mean he can't campaign for gay rights (and I'm pretty sure he does).

I thought the exact same thing when I saw it too. I imagine at some point she'll be completely madeover in the show and not ugly, at least for a while.

A rather successful show usually lasts for 8 seasons. Will this show last that long? Unlikely.

Name me some of these 8 season 'rather' successful shows, also, how did that relate to my post you quoted? Also, I never said it'd last forever either, I don't expect more than 4 seasons from it, especially considering it's adapted from an already existing story which must have ended somewhere.

Indirectly, having to drag out the show with predictable storylines etc. Doesn't have a good chance of lasting...
