I have relised that my brand sparkling new blue ds has a dead pixel :red:
I heard that Nintendo will replace free of charge but has anybody done this?
As it seems a bit too complicated to me.

Yeah they will replace them free of charge for you; you just need to send it off to Nintendo's customer services;
You can find out the details of where to send it/email adresses etc... on;
www.nintendo-europe.com

http://www.nintendo-europe.com/NOE/en/GB/contactus/index.jsp
(that's the customer services page with all the info!)

My DS has a couple of dead pixels but you can hardly notice them so I don't really care about them.

Hmm to add on to the issue, in some cases with the top screen, it is actualy trapped dust instead of dead pixels. Its happend to mine because of the weird join between the back and front of the top screen.

Are you sure? Cause i've still got my reciet so i can just bring it back to the stores but would Game except it? I don't really like the fact that i've paid £100 pounds for it not to be in the best condition it could be.

You mean accept...
My Ds has 2 stuck pixels, I bought it on Nov. 21, and the stuck pixels will eventually go away if the screen flashes different colors enough times, right?

Nope, a dead pixel is a dead pixel, it's something that happens during manufacturing. What can happen is that sometimes it's just unable to display a particular colour, though, so it may show up in different ways during a game; sometimes it won't be any different, other times it can stand out like a sore thumb.

I had to return my ds to noe twice due to dead pixels, but i ended up with 4 styluses and still had it 1 month early so it wasn't all bad.

I've had no problem with bad pixels but earlier on I was trying to play Nintendogs and my stylus decided to make a small scratch on the screen?

I had to send mine back to NOE three times before getting a system without dead pixels! :angry:

My touch screen has a couple of scratches too, :weep: but the culprit was Warioware, well and a dodgy stylus that has since been thrown in the bin.
The slightest imperfection on the stylus tip can scratch a screen up real bad, I check mine quite a bit now to make sure it's ok.

I wouldn’t mind getting one of these though:

Whole thing's made out of brass plus the tip is apparently much better and has less chance of getting any flaws compared to the standard ones, therefore it won’t scratch the screen. :smile:

When you return it to NoE is it just the screens they replace or the whole unit cause i've scratched my DS alreadly i don't think GAME might acept it. Also my battery life is a bit worrlying short. Though i might not be charging it right?

You should use a cottonwool bud stick like I do! No danger of scratching with one of those!!

Nope, a stuck pixel can be fixed. Stuck pixels are colours other than white, I've got a red one in the top corner of mine. If you make the screen flash lots of different colours it could go away.
A dead pixel is white, and will stay like that forever (unless it's not actually dead but a stuck pixel which is white :heh: ).

Earlier on today i returned it to GAME and quickly tried out my copy of Nintendogs so far so good :smile: . BUT when i got home, i found out i had another dead pixel. This time right in the middle of the touch screen. :sad:
I phoned them up and they said they would exchange it again.

My ds has terrible scratches on one side, due too wario ware, it was when i used to have to do stuff quickly in the later levels and then for some reason i pressed down harder on the creen the quicker i neeed to do stuff, also, my silver is like fading on corners so on the corners its white. My poor little ds :(

A dead pixel is white, and will stay like that forever (unless it's not actually dead but a stuck pixel which is white :heh: ).

OK, let me clear this up for you, each pixel on a DS screen is actually made up of 3 light emitting cells; one red, one blue and one green. A completely dead pixel does not emit any of these three colours (or sometimes is stuck producing all three colours permanantly, thus white), however, you can get a situation where only one, or even two of these three colours do not work and the pixel will appear to be stuck on a particular colour, or combinations of colours. This latter situation is why sometimes dead pixels seem to work, because the colour they're being asked to display is one that they're capable of producing still.

Get a decent camera lens cloth, I have a Hama one, you might find that when you wipe the screen with this that it actually removes what appears to be scratches. I had lots of what appeared to be scratches on mine, especially after my 7 year old nephew played Zoo Keeper for several hours, the cloth was able to remove all of them.

Thank the Lord my DS was in perfect mint condition, although it is a little odd though, whenever i seem to open it up there seems to be fluffish dust on the screens, takes a quick wipe to get rid of but who does it get in there when it's shut and in a case?!?

I think mine is in perfect condition too (or I'm just too blind to notice any dead pixels), but indeed, the DS is like a dust magnet. No matter where you put it, it always seems to collect quite a bit of dust on the screens (especially the touch screen). Kinda weird.

As it seems a bit too complicated to me.

Nearly the SAME thing has happened to me. I have the Blue nintendogs bundle The first one had a dead white/blue pixel on the top screen. I got a second one today and it has a dead red pixel bang in the centre of its touchscreen. Will exchange it again at Woolworths, but Im in fear of them eventually saying enough is enough.

I checked it at the store, and found it to be clean, until I played a game on it, and it stood out like a sore thumb. :(

Hopefully the third is ok, otherwise I will be holding nintendo to their dead pixel policy.
