Game of the Year

Well, it's 31st December 2006. It's been an eventful year, with the start of a new console generation, with bucket loads of excellent games.

So what is your game of the year? You can only pick one, none of this listing 3 or 4. And give a reason as well.

Mine I think is Gears of War. It was the game that really dragged me in, and one I put a lot of hours into, something I hadn't done with a game in a long time.

It looks amazing, and has near flawless controls that were so easy to get to grips with. Gears on Xbox Live with you lot and others is some of the most fun I've had with a videogame in a long time.

It was a tough choice with Zelda out as well, but since I've not even hit 10 hours in that yet, I thought my most played and most enjoyed game should be no.1.

Mine is Kingdom Hearts 2, I really enjoyed this game and it made me feel so badass when I used Drive forms too kick some major badguy ass during fights.

Is there any chance that Twilight Princess could be vitoed from this thread otherwise we'll just have a bunch of fanboys flooding this thread saying:

"TP rox everything else sux lol1111one."

Twilight Princess won't be Game of the Year. Halo 2 should be winning Game of the Year every goddamned year. If I was pressed to pick one game I'm going to go with Viva Pinata - it is excellent.

Probably Gears of War. Co-op is amazing, online fighting is amazing.

A bad point though is 4 on 4 mulitplayer. As good as the game is, it woudl have been a lot cooler with more people.

Personally I think 4 vs 4 is plenty. Achievments being in ranked games is bollocks though.

Gears of Wars Single Player amazed me, thats my Game of the Year. I'm more of a 12 v 12 CoD3 man when it comes down to Multiplayer though.

Shadow of the Colossus. During play you get a sort of connection between you and the player that Zelda can only wish it had.
TP is in second for me though :p

Tough choice. I really loved Shadow Of The Colossus, but The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess gets my vote. :)

World of Warcraft consumed most of my year, it won it easily for me. Think I'll start playing that again in a week or two.

Other great games for me this year, Viva Pinata, Gears of War, and Halo 2, as always.

The water temple boss i felt, in zelda, took a leaf out of Shadow Of The Colossus's book. Swimming around hooking onto it etc.
Watching my bro play SOTC it did look like a real epic adventure.

I got a 360 (well not really mine, but am looking after it for a friend while he works in Austria) in December but that was only with NHL 07, which isn't anything special! I know there's the likes of Gears of War, Viva Pinata, etc, however I couldn't really afford any games and to be honest I wanted something new (my enthusiasm for gaming has been waning for the past couple for years)!

Thats why I wanted a Wii so much, it offered that something new and as such Twilight Princess is getting my number 1 spot, shortly followed by Wii Sports and then Mario Smash Football!

Maybe once I get myself a job (just spent a load of money I don't have cause I need fucking glasses) I'll look into those 360 games, but until then I'm sticking with my Wii!

Although Twilight Princess is setting itself up to dislodge DKC III as my fave game ever, seeing as Ive only had limited time with it so far and havent completed it like last year... my votes gonna go to Animal Crossing: Wild World. That pretty much single handedly kept me gaming until the Wii came out. : peace: Actually, if you wanna get technical over this, I didnt complete Animal Crossing last year either but Ive played it enough warrant it getting my vote.

Metroid Hunters promised to be such a decent game from the Demo, but failed rather spectacularly to deliver.
