Jack Thompson Targets Rockstar (Podcast Hot Topic)

Ok sorry about the massive lateness of N-Europe Show #16 the Christmas season had the staff in a bit of a mess when it came to post-production, from emails mysteriously not being delivered to family occasions keeping us away from the matrix that is N-E.

The Hot Topic that was raised (though it being a week late maybe not so "hot" but I vowed in the podcast to post this, and i'm a man of my word) from the "recent" news story of Jack Thompson (http://www.n-europe.com/news.php?nid=9903) when he said he plans to "take down" Rockstar games.

What is you opinion of Mr. Thompson's crusade against games and Rockstar?

Do you think he might actually succeed in shutting them down?

And if by some miracle he does, what effect may that have on the industry and where might Jack go from there?

and Jack Thompsons a total retard, he blames the industry for not protecting kids when it should be the parents whose job that is.

Jack Thompson will fail because everyone can see that he's a sad little man with a grudge and probably a small penis so he acts out like this. poor thing-you'd think someone would take pity and *whistles*

Jack will move on to Mario games, as a spate of incidents involving small armless monsters with feet (but no legs) and jumping children sweep across the world.

If we all just ignore him he'll go away. Personally I don't think he can take them down as money talks, and his case has been rejected many times by courts. I think he's attacking Rockstar as he sees them as an easy target, and being a washed-out and status tarnished lawyer or whatever he was, he needs to try and get back on top, and so he's going to sue them for every penny they've got. I understand that young people play these games, but I guess that is from the evolution of society. Go back 10 years and the cool thing to do was to watch 18+ films when under-aged. Kids wanting to play 18+ games are just an evolution of that want. The thing is not to shut down these game studios, but to put better ground rules in place to 'protect the innocence of the young.' I think more studies need to be carried out in regards to game induced violence. But back to Jack I just think he wants more money. And his come backs to the news reporter in that interview are weak, and I wish he would just stop playing the victim.

Lets pull together and buy him some animal crossing so he can think happy thoughts.

Jack Thomspon is your typical right wing bible bashing yank that gives America a bad name - free speech my arse!

He hasn't got a hope in hell of getting anywhere but it does grab headlines and the conservative bible bashers will approve - this will be as succesful as burning your records - gets headlines but thats all.
