I don't know if this has already been announced and I miss it, but anyway, as I was watching the keynote speech, a piece of boxart for animal crossing was shown saying either "Animal Crossing: Wild World" Or "Wide World" (it was a very quick slide).

It's called Wild World. The box art is cool with the globe, it truly gets the WIFI message across.

I absolutely cannot wait for Wild World. I think its quite possible that it will be the the greatest DS game for me, I loved AC on the cube and it is one of the only games that has given me proper enjoyment since the days of the Megadrive

I cannot wait for this game. This and Sonic Rush will make my DS more than happy enough.
I'm looking forward to it but I wasn't a huge fan of the original game. I was really let down by how uninteractive the various daily events were. Plus, I still have my nes and kept getting games I already own.

Definitely one of the best DS boxarts yet, if not the best. Can't wait to get my hands on this.
I cannot wait for this game! It has that autumn/winter feeling all over it! and I LOVE the boxart! :D
December 5th 2005 cannot come quick enough!

Anyone think they should include weapons to protect your town ?
Ok, maybe not weapons but some way to stop people attacking your village.
My wife would visit my town and bury her garbage and chop down my fruit trees so would online vandals be a problem ?

I dont think it needs weapons, adding them would just be making the game more violent and thats not what its about

This is definately one of, if not my most anticipated DS release from its announcement, as I didn't import the GC version and I decided to wait for the DS game. The idea of visiting other peoples toens and having others visit yours is ideal for this game IMO. The boxart is most awesome too.

I didnt really mean having your character running around with sniper rifle.
I am worried that you will get people visiting your town and vandalising it.
Will there be ways to prevent this.

Still, going around shooting people who even think about hurting your precious plants and trees sounds satisfying.

For me, the drawback of Animal Crossing for the cube was the fact that I wanted to play with other people and visit other towns but I couldn't. Multi-player is such a huge part of this game and I think it'll be one of the most popular, timeless classics on the DS.

I'm purchasing the DS for this game alone, i never got the money together to get the GC version, so i hope this one is as good as that one, if not better.

How will be able to acces the wi-fi I wonder? Will it be router+ broadband internet? Also, yeah the boxart looks awesome, And there is a car! Does this mean you can drive places??? And I worry about online vandals, maybe they get a fine and you get the Cha-ching? Or maybe you can tell the police officer? I don't know, but this is making me want to play AC on my 'cube right now.

A)You will need broadband and either a router/Nintendo wi-fi USb connector to play this.
B)There is no need to worry about online vandals; the only people who could get into your village(seeing as it is going to be just like the GC/N64 game in it's presentation)are you, the other three people who play on your cart and people who you give you town access details to; so basically, Freinds/Relatives/Online Buddies. You will also have to 'accept' them into your town each time, as whenever somebody tries to visit your village(when you're online)the new character at the town gate will ask you if it is ok for them to enter; so you'll only let in people you already know.

Yes, just whack it into a free usb port. You can buy them already (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0006374PK/ref=br_ce_ts_4//026-2966580-7193200) but Ninty are going to have there own rebranded ones. It is the cheaper way to get a wireless connection. You could also play where ever you can get an wifi internet connection ie Starbucks or an open access point.

It’s another gargantuan mistake by NOE if true.
I think any games that use Nintendo WiFi connection should be released in all territories simultaneously, otherwise what’s the point of being able to play with people from all over the world if half of the world has had the game for ages and already moved on to playing the next big thing, while the other half (i.e. Europe) is still waiting.

I would imagine it would since it's a portable console! What would be the point in being able to take it on holiday with you only to find it doesn't work in that country?!

Exactly!
It's going to work wherever; the question is whether you can trade items from a US to a PAL version; but i'd expect that to be yes aswell.

I think thats a good idea having players share the one house.
I hope Ninty put out some good advertising for this game.
It just has so much potential especially with all the talk of them setting up free wifi hotspots.

for you non french people
The official magazine Nintendo Power publishes some new details concerning Animal Crossing: Wild World on Nintendo DS. This new version on the portable console of foreseen Nintendo for December 5 next one to the United States should propose more possibilities in comparison with the basic concept than one was able to discover on GameCube. It will be in fact possible to play at several through the connection WiFi, four players will thus be able to play in the same town with an alone game cartridge, the big novelty consist in to place these four players in an alone and even house in which they will reside all, every player would not dispose therefore any his own house, it is a matter here to play in a cooperation spirit while dividing Corner to sleep, the bills, while defining together the possible settings for the house, every player will be able well évidement to install and move the objects freely in the piece. The American magazine promises us more details concerning this communication game in his next number, surprises should equally be unveiled, the train station for example will be replaced by an immense door that takes, through the network, towards of other towns, KK Slider should be able to produce itself in a new restaurant every week, etc. Moorish to come.

How good this game is depends a lot on the use of WIFI for me. If it's just a case of going and being able to walk around someone else's town that won't really cut it personally. If you could set up supplies links with someone online and perhaps go and buy and sell your wares at a certain time in someone else's town, or have to meet up for town meetings at a specific time in someone else's town (or something like this with more depth) then it will succeed in meeting my expectations.
I don't want an online Nintendogs bark mode, there needs to be lots of online interaction.

As far as I know only "friends" can wisit your town. So don't invite friends that you don't trust with your trees :)

Also, how many people can enter at a time, if its one that will be shit!! However, if loads of people can enter and we canhave fishing competetions and other unnannounced mutlipayer games (football, NES games etc etc) then it will be amazing, If its just a case of the cube game with online play, but only one person can go in and you cant do much, then stuff that, ill stick with Mario Kart!!
