I thought it would be cool to mention some gaming moments that made Gamecube a worthy purchase. If anyone replies to this, i'd like to hear all the different responses. Heres mine:
LoZ Wind Waker-The final blow where our tiny cel shaded hero drives the Master Sword through Ganon's forehead. There was something very awesome/disturbing about it that made my jaw drop. Money well spent

Metroid Prime - The first time I met and shot down flying pirates, and an explosion made "my" face appear in the visor. It was just a very friggin' cool feeling.

Metroid Prime, just the atmosphere this game oozes, it was so refreshing, finally a game that grasped me like Ocarina of Time had done, reading the space pirate logs of how I had kept infiltrating their labs and stopping their work. Simply amazing!
Wind Waker, pure magic, I felt touched when you fist speak to the Deku Tree and he starts to speak to you in ancient Hylian, seeing you as the Hero of Time! Beautiful!
Eternal Darkness, the level at which this game plays with your mind is great! I remember the game showing an error message and I was thinking my still quite new Cube had crashed! Very clever and brilliantly scripted!
Res Evil (remake and 4), the scares they both gave me, the atmosphere and tension. Gripping!
All these games had me going through different emotions whilst playing them! These next few only had me feeling one, FUN!
SSBM
MK: DD
SMB
Viewtiful Joe
It's these games that I'll remember my cube by mostly, such great games!

Well seeing as I'm playing THUG2 right now on my Cube, I don't see this as so much of a goodbye... but still, best moments?
The first map in Resident Evil 4, where you basically realised what an absolutely beautiful game it was.
Finally beating Splinter Cell and deleting that piece of crap for good.
Earning every character trophee on Super Smash Bros.
Star Wars: Rogue Leager, 2nd-to-last map, when you're dogfighting roughly 200 X-wings at any one time. The beauty, the gameplay, the graphical power... all just amazing.
The upgraded clipscenes in Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes.
That's all for now.

1. Metroid Prime 1 and 2
that game made me feel like i was in the game itself, when you first go to tallon overworld, when it was raining, drops of rain were on the screen and more came on it when you looked up in the sky, when you were in the heat the screen usally foged up, and last would have to be some of the best bost battles ever.
2. Resident Evil 4
this game was the best survival horror ever, the only downfall to the game was that you never really wanted it to finish, a surpurb game by Shinji Mikami and hope that he keeps on making great games for Nintendo.
Other games i really loved were
Legend of zelda: WW
Donkey Konga
Paper Mario 2
Tales of Symphonia
Star Wars: Rogue Leader
Super Smash Bros Melee
Soul calibur 2
Thats all until the first quater of next year. (you know what i am talking about.)

My all-out Smash Bros matches with friends. Being able to take a challenge and defeat every last opponent with style (except one who raped me at it in front of everyone). Being able to smash someone so they plummet towards a KO and being able to fit in a fighterstance is a really great feeling.
Baten Kaitos. That's all that needs to be said. Baten Kaitos.
there's more, but I'd rather not list them all...

A few more:
The tank boss in MGS, for some reason was the longest boss battle ever for me but loved every second of it
Eternal Darkness, the gruesome end to Chapter 7 was another jaw dropper
And paying $10 bucks for Beach Spikers and having hours and hours of drunken multiplayer

Wind Waker for me too. The sheer delight of seeing a cartoon Link inhabit an incredibly expressive cartoon world. Those baddies with the lamps completely sold me! Anyone who doesn't like it is dead inside.
F-Zero GX though, is probably the game that completely cemented the Cube as my system of choice. I wasn't fully convinced of the console's power 'til then. It still betters other racers on other systems even now. They'll never top it...

SSBM - Beating Event 51 \o/
TWW - Beating the boss of Tower of Gods and then pulling out the Master Sword
Metroid Prime - Beating some cool bosses like Omega Pirate and Meta Ridley

One thing that sticks out for me in the 'Cubes lifetime, was the day I bought Super Mario Sunsine. I remember it well October 4th (my best friends birthday), me and my brother went to town just to get it. Previously I hadn't purchased any games for the 'Cube because its my brothers (I've comandeered it now). I was blown away, having been huge Mario fan since the Snes but I somehow missed the N64, it was like returning to something special. Great game regardless of what some think.

There's quite a selection of quality games on the cube, but my memory would be when we imported Animal Crossing a year ago,.
I never knew how much fun and addictive, talking to animals and doing chores will be!

I think in terms of worth, gamecube wins hands down for me, and its still in use heavily even though i haven't bought a game since Resident Evil 4. And thats a given for a great gaming moment the minute it loads up and you get control of leon, the fact me and my mates played it for 10 hours straight, knowing we had no memory card just goes to show it. Other games that i feel deserve a tribute are Tales of Symphonia, i mean it was my fav RPG this generation hands down the battle system obliterates anything i've previously seen, as it truly is more than button bashing. Other games include Naruto 3 i mean we played this for like 8 hours straight at a party we had just goes to show how much fun it truly is, and the usual games, by that i mean your Smash Bros., Mario Karts, Timesplitters 3 etc. Well actually just those 3 i think.
I've yet to play Paper Mario but it looks great. But in all honesty those 5 mentioned games are ones i feel stood above all the others for me there's just no disputing it for me.

I agree with some of the stuff above, but a couple of moments:
Super Mario Sunshine - using the jet boost to run around the sea around Delfino Plaza
Starfox Adventures - the beauty of the Snowhorn wastes (especially at night), and the sheer amazing graphical prowess that game had.

Seeing the Air and water effects for the first time in Wind Waker. It's funny, i tried it again the other day and it still amazed me.
Also, the whole of ToS was great, well all i got to play of it. (about halfway through the second disk)

Consoles never 'die'. SNES isn't dead is it? Just because it isn't available to buy say in shops like GAME and HMV anymore, doesn't mean people don't play it anymore. If a console is no longer sold or have upcoming games for it doesn't make it 'dead' because plenty of people will still play on it. Not like thats the situation with GC yet anyway, there is still Fire Emblem, Battallion Wars, Baten Kaitos II and Twilight Princess to come out.

09-10-2005, 11:28 AM
I still play nes so for me GC will never die.And of course it gave me very special moments.
I still remeber the first time I played Zelda:WW. I was astonished with the amazing graphics.I remenber to see the wind make the plants moving...='( and when I fought the first boss, I didn't know how to beat it, so that night I couldn't sleep and I think I have dreamed wiht that boss...LOL
But almost every game I bought made me pass for amazing moments.I just feel magic when I put a new game into my cube....

I got my GC two days after the european release and bought Rogue Leader and THPS3. Together with a mate we tried to beat the first level in Rogue Leader - I was so amazed by the graphics flying through that canyon thing on the Death Star and when Vader said: "The force is strong with this one."
Metroid Prime: The tutorial level on the space station (when you first see Samus jumping from her ship to the station), the fight against Flarangahh (sp?) (the plant that poisioned the water), fighting Ridley and the End when Samus flies off.
Smash Bros so many cool moments fighting friends.
Starfox Adventures: The temple where Krystal is in a crystal, the vortex one of the dinosaurs opens in the sky.
Spider-Man 2: swinging around the city
MK:DD: Beating the very last cup.
Viewtiful Joe: The Intro when six-machine (sp?) comes out of the screen.
Wind Waker: Where Link encounters Ganon for the first time and that Dragon (Valoo) interferes.
When Link gets to Hyrule (that felt so strange - I played OOT a month before TWW and didn't want to leave Hyrule; I had the feeling I belonged there...)
RE4: Where Leon meets Ada and she drops her glasses and you see a countdown in them.
Fanelia
09-10-2005, 12:54 PM
Pikmin: Giving birth to my very first pikmin. The charme! Lookin' in this smallest of creatures' round glazy eyes, impersonating the very definition of loyalty and hard work.
I'm rather surprised in being the first to mention this classic moment in Pikmin-history.
I have long contemplated on having a pikmin tattoo on my chest that says "Leave no Pikmin behind!". But my mommy wouldn't let me. A damn shame.

I have some similar moments as above - the sheer beauty of Metroid and that it ozzed class at evry point in the game.
Playing Rogue Leader for the first time was stunning; the fun and sped of Fzero, the originalty and fun I had (and have) with the Donkey Konga's and Jungle Beat and moany others.
Specific momnets though would have to be:
- When you realise Hyrle is under the water and your in the temple and everyone is frozen - a brilliant plotpoint and sbolutely beautiful
- The retor levels in Mario with that great scratch score and greate gameplay without the waterpak - I could play a whole game of this, these sections outdid Mario 64 for me!
- The track design of Yoshis Circuit and Baby Park Ride (possibly the two greatest tracks in Mario Kart history) - how I timetrialled those two levels for hours and hours!!!
- And a particular mention has to go to Winning ELeven - the game I have put most hours into, play it ALL the time, spent hours and hours changing every player, updating every team and even creating the whole of the premiership, a bit sad, but I love it. Doesnt reach the heights of a lot of games on the cube on a game front, but I must have put hundereds and hundreds of hours into it.
I could go on about moments of cube magic, but this wil do ;)

first time i played wind waker on launch day, just seeing the graphics put the biggest smile on my face and made we know that it was going to be a hell of game and it was
metroid prime defeating metroid prime pumping my fists in the air knowing i just beat one of the best games and boss battles ever.
f-zero gx losing a grand-prix by a nose hair and throwing the controller on the ground in disgust at yourself- looking back a great moment

The Wind Waker rocks... because of the music. It's a cool game, buuut to me music is the most important part of any game and to me tWW has the best music out of anything on the GC.
I was expecting this to be some kind of video, or something.

Hearing the startup melody for the first time.
Beating Ganondorf.
Spending an insane amount of hous at playing ToS.
Drinking and having fun with Mario Party and SSBM with a few friends.
....
and of course many more moments and even more will come soon with Fire Emblem, Battalion Wars, Strikers, Pokemon and Zelda!

Metroid Prime was simply amazing for the atmosphere. Pure brilliance.
Also F-Zero GX was great, the feeling and how polished that game was was unbelieveable. I even went and bought an extra memory card just for this game.
Finally buying the GameCube on launch day in Europe after waiting soooo long for it to arrive here!
Playing Metroid Prime. It's such a beautiful and atmospheric game. Pure greatness. It has become my favourite game on the system.
Finally getting Mario Sunshine and just running and messing around not doing anything in particular. Just having fun!
Playing Wind Waker for the first time was another great moment. Another beautiful looking game.

Super Mario Sunshine - using the jet boost to run around the sea around Delfino Plaza
Starfox Adventures - the beauty of the Snowhorn wastes (especially at night), and the sheer amazing graphical prowess that game had.
I loved those two games. They are too overlooked in greatness I think.

Ah memories of the Cube well where to to begin....
Luigis Mansion: First game I played on this console and I remember thinking how cool it looked. The graphics and music were amazing.
Smash Bros Melee: What can be said about this gem of a game. Im sure this is on everyones top 10 games for the cube. The game is a multiplayer experience like no other but the 1 player mode is awesome aswell. The moment when I unlocked all the trophies was a magical one.
Zelda: WW: Its Zelda Nuff said!
Skies of Arcadia: Legends: From the time this was announcent to the time when I finished it was simply awesome for me. I had playedthe Dreamcast version but I never finished it so I picked this version up as I loved the DC one. Awesome moment for me in this game were the Gigas Battles aswell as one of the final scenes where evryone comes to help Vyse in a battle of the skies.
Resident Evil 4: Im a fan of all the R Evils and I loved the remake. Problem was I had played that story before and as for Zero, even though I finished it, I didnt like the item dropping system. Now this came along and blew everything out of the water for me. The graphics were outstanding as was the totally different style of gameplay. The best moment for me was just when I unlocked everything in the game and went back into story mode and blew everything away with my new "toys".
Pikmin: A very magical and overlooked game. This screams originality and it was just so cool to play. Having an army of little creatures at your disposal that are willing to give their own life for you.....who doesnt like that?
Mario Sunshine: Getting all the shines was a great moment for me. I remember I was off work the week it came out and I played non-stop til it was done. Sure it wasnt Mario 64 but it was still a great game.
There are probably more due to the quality of games out on the Cube but those are just a few I remember.

R.I.P?
From my perspective the Gamecube certainly isn't dead yet - not until SSX On Tour, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Battalion Wars, Odama, Mario Smash Football, and of course The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, have been released. So I'll contribute (properly) to this thread when it is actually dead. :)

The GameCube is far from dead seeing as such a blockbuster game is on the way.
I've had enough of this doom-mongering.
The best moment on my Cube *so far* was entering Phendrana Drifts for the first time on Metriod Prime -- Beautiful, and the music was lovely.

Hmm awesome topic n_n
Just about every game I own ,akes me happy I bought a Cube. So many magical stuff. But I'll try and see if I can find some moments to remember in particular:
*Starfox Adventures; finally beating that "test of fear" The first time I saw that I actually truely felt what they meant for you to feel 0_0 such an awesome moment, with the music and the tension ;_; and the thrill of passing the test.
*Tales of Symphonia; after releasing the seals, At first the game looked abit weak, was dissapointed, but then after the second seal the story started to gain momentum. Truely one of the best gaming experiences on Cube ever.
*Paper Mario; finding out that I can have more badges than on the N64 version n_n. The entire game was such a fun ride, dont find that on any other console.
*F-zero, beating story mode, beating all cups on Master level, great moments with beautifull graphics ;_; and great cut scenes.
Metroid...baten kaitos...its all good my friends

I still love you for Smash Brothers, though. And Zelda. Maybe Metroid. Perhaps Sunshine. Plus the Resident Evils.

Some other moments:
Finally finding a Cube that wasnt sold out on launch day (believe it or not).
Realizing that my tiny, half-size disk playing Cube was every bit as powerful as the giant mess that was Xbox for 150 bucks less. Here in the States, 150 bucks can buy FOUR seperate DVD players...FOUR!!!
Despite its goofy purple lunchbox appearance, the size and power and price of the Gamecube was truly a marvel at launch.

sadly in the uk the GC is dead :( I went into game the other day and they had more ds and psp games for sale then for the GC!
Still i am so looking forward to the new zelda game so i am going to keep the candle burning just a little longer over here in the uk :)
Hero-of-Time

oooo another one from me is from
Tales of Symphonia: The scene is pretty near the end when everyone starts to get seperated in different ways 1-by-1. Then they all come back together. Very emotional scene with Genis and Lloyd aswell.
Also I agree the Cube aint dead and this topic should be renamed the best moments so far on your cube.

So Gamecube games still actually grace the shelves of your local GAME then? That suggests to me that it's still alive. :)
I get all my games online from sites like Gameplay, Play, and Amazon - and only when I can't buy Gamecube games from them will I consider it dead.

I have a lot of great GC memories but its far from dead to me. Not only do I have some great games to pick up (ZELDA!!), I also play a lot of games that I already finished.
Playing Luigis Mansion was awesome. Not only was it the first GC game, but it was fresh and fun. Hearing Luigi humming the main theme is hilarious.
Pikmin. When the little critters died, I couldnt help but feel sorry for them. Unless they were being totally stupid.
I have a lot more great memories from Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, but theyre too much to post here.

Metroid for me to. To tell the truth, I was sceptical of this game since it was FP right up to the moment I started playing it, and boy was I wrong: The game was perfect in every aspect and truly felt like a Metroid game should only now in 3D.
Eternal Darkness, the level at which this game plays with your mind is great! I remember the game showing an error message and I was thinking my still quite new Cube had crashed! Very clever and brilliantly scripted!
I once had a similar experience like that: it was when I was saving and the game told me that the memory card had been deleted. Scared the shit out of me since I had so many great records on SSBM.
Resident Evil Remake: the scare this game gave me will probably never be experienced again. Awesome game.
F-Zero: When I played this game for the first time and saw all those racers, at that speed without any drop in FpS made my jaw drop.
Zelda WW: personally I think Zelda should have a cartoon style which made the cel-shaded Wind Waker feel like a Zelda game should be. The only thing I would have liked better was if one could have had explored Hyrule instead of just sailing a vast ocean. Just imagine walking in the real Lost Woods, Death Mountain and of course the plains of Hyrule itself. However the game is great regardless of that.
And of course the Game of Games: SSBM, it´s unbelievable how this game have kept me busy. I got this game on launch-day and have played it virtually every day since then. The best memory I have of this game is when i faced Marth for the first time. Seeing a swordsman like him among all standard Nintendo-characters really made my eyes grow big, also the FE music that played when I fought him was great. When later Roy, yet another cool swordsman appeared I knew I loved this game.
Well, those are some memories I have.
The Cube will never die, at least not for me.

Ah Yes, so many good memories *tear*. I have so many i can't really remember most.
A few that do stick out are:
- RE4 When you get to the first part of the Village and the Chainsaw guy comes after you for the very first time. Pure suspence!
- Alot of Parts in Wind Waker, Metroid Prime. And the twists in ToS and Baten Kaitos.
- Getting drunk with my buddies and playing Super Monkey Ball 2, DOR, Time Splitters 2.
- Getting drunk and playing Mario Golf then getting mad because I suck so much. lol. Golf and Beer don't mix.

There Has just been so many standout moments on my lil cube, but these are the best:
Metroid Prime- The Moment i realised that it worked in first person and jumping wasnt messy like i thought it would be, Phendrana drifts- nuff sed, finding the last artifact and earning the right to kick Ridleys ASS.
Mario Sunshine- THE BIG YELLOW BIRD IN THE SKY! (gelato beach) OH MY GOD!
that just blew me away, the scale was emense for just one shine!- roll on mario 128!
Wind WAker- the first time u charghed up that sword and made like a tornado! also the first time u enter hyrule below and its all black and white, then after seeing ZELDA, the whole place is rick with colour and all the stone enemies come to life! DAMN that was just adrenaline pumping!
RE4- THE WHOLE GAME! not one moment did i want to put the controller down (althouth i had to eventually) and HARD mode is impossible! has any body done it!? im stuck in the room with loads of monks, and there is a red dude, and snipers shooting from above (the bit b4 where ashley is lone ranger and u gotta snipe the freaks down) SWEET :)
Hardware GC- yeh the jingly tune at start was so kool! and beats sony wahm!, start up and xbox humming noise. also the fact that the freeloader was invented! yay! only gamecube can play import games so easily, which is funn cos nintendo r the ones who r most anal bout priacy n stuff.
THE GREATEST EVER MOMENT HAS TO BE- The Grand unveiling of a Legend Reborn....and hopefully the game will b the best of all time if not the best this gen, however metroid prime will b hard to beat. Metroid Prime was fresh, zelda isnt so much.

Lots of moments. Playing Super Monkey Ball on the day I got the Cube. Mario Sunshine, throwing a pad across the room in annoyance. Zelda, Metroid, Pikmin 2.
Seeing Resident Evil for the first time might be my moment for the Cube though. Didn't think graphics like tghat were possible.

My #1 moment was playing Luigi's Mansion for several days solid, twas so much fun. Some other big moments were getting hooked to Mario Sunshine, playing Wind Waker and viewing it's beauty. Getting the crap squeezed out of me when the lights went all out and the Metoirds + Space pirates were all tehre in Metroid Prime at one point*. So many great moments...
*Some parts of this memory may be fictional, I can't quite remember it 100%.

Beating Wind Waker (it was the first Zelda game I ever beat).
Beating OOT on the bonus disc (I had it on N64, but never beat it because I was scared of the Shadow Temple).
Beating Majora's Mask on the Collector's Edition.
The immense rush of adrenaline you get when playing F-Zero GX.
Metroid Prime, every single second was beautiful.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, taking the elements of Prime and improving them (but somehow Prime was better).
SSBM, having some good laughs with friends in multiplayer.
Kicking my brother's arse with Link in Soul Calibur II.
Resident Evil 4, the action, the graphics and the fear (ah, Regenarators!!!).

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Killer 7 was such a treat for me. Great story and great art direction, and some alright gameplay. But it had a hell of an ending.
I still want a sequal or an additional disc with all the missing chapters.

The Gamecube's finest hour is yet to come - the new Zelda will be a final, glorious swan song for the Cube. With games like Metroid, Wind Waker, SSBM, Resi4 and F-Zero, plus many more, it's served me well these past few years.
