Just realised there's no thread for the photo channel yet.
Anyone else try messing with it?
The slide show thing is kinda cool, you can use your own music on you SD card (mp3) which is wicked.
I tried to play video however it says that the file format is not recognised (it's a .avi) and said to check the operations manual, which i did and it says that ".avi" will work, so why won't mine?:horse:

Yeah I put this on for the first time and think its awesome for quick browsing. The photo puzzle thing is also amazing - and it keeps records :)
AS for you question, can'#t answer that, but I was going to try out the video stuff on it so I'll keep you updated on my findings!

Have experimented with the videos on the photo channel and have found if you want to watch avi files on your Wii you that you will need to convert them with a programme called Red Kawa Video Converter which supports the Wii's video formats.
you can get the programme here (http://www.downloadatoz.com/wii-converter/)
Converting time varies but i was able to convert a 174mb avi in less that 6 minutes. hope this helps everyone :)

Needs to be below a certain resolution from what the ops manual says. I actually haven't got one playing yet. Has anyone been able to use their music in game with anything yet?
Been messing with the photos a bit. All of the Fun section is great. The doodle section is pretty interesting. Anyone notice that if u use the cut tool, u can vary the size of the section you are pasting by pushing the contoller closer and further away on the screen. It's crazy!

With two controller this could get fun, if you have the right picture. I was messing around wih a picture of Dave the next door neighbours cat. And my sis had a controller and we did loads of random stuff to it.
Anyone else read seen the easter eggs thing or something or other.
If you want to know highlight it: when ypu've cleared the puzzle for the first time and are able to choose how many pieces you want, when chosing go to 46(i think it is) and press 1, it should change to 198(somewhere around that numbner).
I just thought that was pretty nifty.

it was in 320x280, the manual says max is 800 something x someting :heh: can't remember the exact figures but i know it's bigger than what i used. My camera uses mpeg4, do you think maybe the Wii doesn't recgnise this?
Oh and cheers Dazdude, i'll try that converter later

Thats crap, why couldn't they have a straight Avi codec on there? Argh!!

The codec it needs to be for video is Motion JPEG for it to play. Nothing else currently works I think.
And photo channel with the slideshow is a nice little touch. Made me go wow anyway, because I didn't think they'd put much effort into it at all.

Because there's no standard AVI codec. AVI is a container format which can be encoded with any manner of codec.

Browsing pics on an SD card is awesome.
Has anyone pressed the d-pad down while looking through their photos? You get a weird mosaic censorship thing, not sure what that's for :D maybe if you're showing your friends your pics and something naughty appears and you have to quickly censor it :heh:
Anyway I think the UI for the photo gallery is great, and it loads so fast!

There are so many strains of .avi codec, couldn't they have been a little more specific?

Is there a way to copy back the photos on an SD?
I downloaded some photos from a friend's SD and I would like to copy them on my SD, but that doesn't seem possible.
I can't even send them by email, only to other Wiis... why does ninty always have to put so many limitations in everythings it does? :(

I used Wii Video 9 to convert a 45min long video from avi to motion jpeg and if I want it at a reasonable quality it's 1.5 GB while in avi it was 350mb and still the avi version looks better.
Do any of you know of a better converter for Wii that produces the same quality at a better compression rate?

I had a Nokia 6131 but I lost it. Was a very cool phone with Micro SD, Bluetooth, MP3 player etc.
