If you can drive, in theory you should be able to pick it up from your local depot.
You'll need photo ID and a corresponding recent bank statement proving that the address on the box is your residence.

You've got 7 days to find out where your depot is and get there on the Thursday. Worth a shot if you're desperate/have too much time on your hands.

Its almost certain I'll be working on launch day so it'll basically be a case of turn up at Game for opening - Buy Wii and bits and pieces (And go running around elswhere to track other bits down if Game are out - I'm talking my extra nunchuk that I didn't pre-order) and then arrive home. Set the Wii up and then probably a case of get ready for work and set off :( I won't get a chance to play it until either 10:00 that night or the following day :( Friday's a slow day too always so I just know it'll drag.

Hopefully I will get my Wii at midnight on Thursday, so i will play it till about 1am on Friday morning and then go to bed and wake up again at 7am on Friday and get some serious hours in!

Instead of worries about the postman, i have worries about the suppliers to the shop that i am getting it from, i will be buying mine from an independent games shop, it is not part of any wider series of shops at all, so if there are fewer units available than expected, i don't think that the suppliers would be more loyal to the independent shop than they are to something like woolworths etc.

I would trust the man who owns the shop with my life, but not the suppliers!

These are nervous times for all of us!

I'm picking mine up in the local EB Games thursday night, thats great cause i'm not at work next friday, so I can play all night+day .... how convinient is that!!

I have ordered Rayman, Zelda and WiiPlay + RGB Cable and an extra nunchunk for around 380£ - Yes, the danish prices is too high!

Pretty disapointing to see that the local store not had a single poster, there was NOTHING indicating that Wii launches next week. They get 20 machines, but has 30 preorders.

Well guys just had a play on my gamecube for the last time. Was the first time i've used it since August 2005. Has a quick game of Donkey Konga and Smash Bros Melee. I stayed after work today and played on the Wii and Wii sports for 30mins..

Cant say that I was too impressed...the Wii couldnt even read what I was doing properly...the ball on wii bowling kept swerving to the right, no matter how i bowled it....i hit the ball in wii baseball about 1 out of 4 times, and would get a foul each time. I couldnt even hit the golf ball in Wii golf because it didnt seem to recognise my swing at all...im really disappointed........ the menus are difficult to navigate and typing on the screen is really hard and slow.. at the moment, it is the least impressive console i have ever played. I would have felt gutted if I got that on release day.

For me, the Wii is going to suck if other games are like Wii sports..playing it was a nightmare and pointless. I havent given up on a game so quickly since Sonic Adventure DX on the Gamecube (remembers camera angles from hell). Oh yep, the graphics are soooo bad!

I to had trouble on Wii golf. Were you holding the A (might be B) button when you were swinging? Anywho I was but when i swung back nothing happend but when i swung forward my character swung back very odd was probably holding the controller wrong though. Other than that I loved every second of it when i played the wii

I tried doing it on its own and with the buttons..maybe i am really bad! I am left handed, so was trying it with the left handed settings. It seemed to work better when I was acting as if the controller was in my right hand..so perhaps the settings reset after changing games. It made me feel like such a plonker.

I dont know about Malaysia! I was there for a month in August and they dont even sell the DS there. I could only come across market stools selling fake Gameboy games. Gaming doesnt seem to be big in that country. I will be there for 6 months next year, so dont know what I will do.:p

and the games where preorded during a special employee discount day to which entertainment goods where discounted @ 20%, sadly moronic manager didn't put my name down for a wii on that day (but he did on the games) otherwise i would have got £36 off the wii, BUT i have been assured they will do this special day again just before the PS3 launch so i should get £85 off the ps3 60gb vr bargain!

When I played yesterday it was brilliant - played the tennis and it recognised all the different shots and the rumble really made it feel like you were hitting something!

Also watched people play Golf and Tennis and the controller seemed to be recognising everything they did!

Oh, they looked like bigger discounts than that to me, you get better in GAME :p, unless they changed it in the past year. They give 10% off consoles, 30% off games, 25% off accessories, it's at times like this I wish I still worked there :(

Who in their right mind would pay more money for an import controller when they can get one from the local shops and websites for £30 at most? Or even from places like Play Asia and VGP for even cheaper (providing you can dodge HM customs).

Yeah, I ordered a Wii Play bundle and a couple of extra controllers online at Woolworths, just in case. I have a sneaking feeling that finding Wii Play and controllers in the local shops on launch day will be nigh on impossible.

Woohoo! Received my Wii on Saturday and have been playing it all weekend. It's so good, Wii Sports is a very clever game, I was surprised how well some of the game mechanis worked. Zelda is just pure awesomeness and the controls just come so naturally that you don't want to be doing it any other way.

I saw a Wii in Game today. It's tiny. Everyone who saw it was remarking just how small it was and people were even running into the store and marveling at the demo kiosk. The kiosk wasn't on, but the manager there said it would be within the next few days.

Comparatively another store has a PS3 on display, which was covered in fingerprints and looked grubby. Didn't help the machine was running on a 20" LCD SDTV with composite cables either.

ahh!! what do you lot think i should do. my mate who promises to get me a wii from where she works (GAME) and use her staff discount, which'll be lovely. however shes a tad clueless and will be in college with me on friday... the GAME she works in is miles away, so i have all these fears one won't get put back for her. I remember looking forward to the DS a lot, but not this much. Handheld hype can't reach the level of home console hype, I think. It feels so unreal that when I wake up tomorrow - a short day in my book - it'll only be three days. Wednesday will be a killer though. Long day, work after school, and I have to study for a test in the late afternoon. Thursday will be alright. PE, History and another social studies test, but after that, it's steady cruising toward 5 in the morning on Friday :P

I was hoping on finishing the Wind Waker again, but since my GameCube already found a new home (with my niece that is - I'm not selling it), I'll probably be studying my philosophy exam (wich is on Friday, great timing, yey!) or be playing on my N64. But most likely I'll be watching 'De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig: het Internaat' (Today's youth: the boarding school) on VT4 here in Belgium. It's incredibly funny seeing how kids are transported back to the fifites, to boarding school, and getting explaination about how jerking off will affect you sight and eventually leed to blindness. It's just that little thing that makes you smile everytime you hear it, just for the cheer quirkyness of it.

And then it's probably of to bed. A sleepeless night. And an incredibly weak (but I don't hope so, I'm studying hard just for this exam, not to be accused of 'playing that PlayStation thing to much' - yes, my parents can't tell the difference between Wii and PlayStation) examen and then go to my local game store, pick it up and unwrap it as if a nuclear bomb is heading my way and I want to see my last best friends before dying. Or just like a happy child opening his long-awaited present, if you prefer.

Finaly got my wii today (aussie launch), wow is the system and remote small. i have only playied wii sports so far and it's fun even my dad came in to room to have a go (that has never happened).

btw it's very hard to get games in australia ebgames was sold out of all there games (even spongbob), i seen about 3 copies of zelda and redsteal and only one copy of call of duty 3 which i nabed (at kmart) systems are impossible to find if you didn't pre-order at least where i am.

some games didn't launch today there is no farcry, down hill jam, madden & marvel.
farcry has a n/a release date in the online store i checked and enouther has it removed, so it may have a faily large delay till the end of the month or till next year sometime.

if you didn't pre-order your wii in europe your going to have one hell of a time trying to find one and make sure you pre-order games!

It's just Mad Katz ones I believe. No official ones or very few have made it to the European launch. Very few Gamestation stores will be carrying limited Mad Katz cables and if you scouted about you might find one at PC world, Comet or anywhere like that.

I agree that they are low key stores, and I would not expect them to get much stock, but they told people specifically that the game had been delayed. I never said that it was fact, I merely listed a bunch of rumours and speculation that was doing the rounds at the moment. Regardless of what you say, the rumours alone have got everyone into a scrambled frenzy. Like I said before - we will all have a clearer picture by the end of the day today and hopefully things can calm down.
