I'm going to TRY and get out to buy Nintendogs later today, although I have no idea which version I want. I think I'll get the version with one of the dogs we've had on it, since that would be kind of cool. I think I'll call it something silly too and raise it to attack children, especially Paperboy.

Wooo just got nintendogs and been playing it for around an hour. It's really awesome so far though it isn't a game you can play in long sessions though. I think i'll get back to advanced wars for that!
The only trouble i'm having with the game so far is being able to tell what the dog is doing when I get the option to record a command. Otherwise, awesome game, I love it.

Just out of interest, what currency does the UK version use? Does it change depending on your location (i.e. French copies use the Euro), or is it still in dollars as per the US version?

I've got lab edition. So far i've had 2 dogs. One of which was totally disobident... so i started again. Got another dog, which was incredibly stupid and couldn't learn commands at all. Started again.

What breed is best for me? :-/

I've got the Dachsund version. Both my Huskey and Golden Retriever have been really good.

Maybe the problem isn't the dogs but the trainer? :p

When getting them to learn commands here are my tips:-

* I found it best to be in a quiet room with no other background noises.
* Be consistent - You have to say the command in exactly (or near enough exactly) the same way every time.
* When teaching several tricks, do not use commands for each trick that could be confused by the voice recognition for another command.
* Try to make commands long i.e. instead of 'shake', try 'shake hands'.
* Use some expression in your voice when saying the command instead of monotone.

That's because Dachshund's aren't commonly found to be pet's in Europe from what I'm aware of, and they're more American dogs (for example, that Disney film with the Dashshund in it).

And the reason behind the Lab version selling so well here is because of Andrex.

Nintendo put the SKU's in this order of priority:

Lab > Dachshund > Chihuahua

My mum came home before I went to college so I had a butchers (pun intended). Got me a chocolate lab and called him Gumbel. Since I've been in, I've stopped for about 20 minutes to have dinner. I've taught him his name, sit down and lie down. We're playing frisby now, and hes starting to learn to catch it. Its awesome, especially for someone like me who has never had a dog.

Thanks i'll try that :grin: , I was starting to get annoyed with my voice after a while. My dog is still having trouble obeying me, stupid thing.

Yes, all 18 dogs are on every copy. The more trainer points you get, the more dogs you'll unlock.

Actually there are 20 dogs in total.

Anyway the only differences in the game is the dogs you start off with. Also, each version has their own exclusive items. For example, Labradour version gets the Peach Kart, Daschund version gets the Mario Kart and Cihuahua version gets the Bowser Kart.

I've chosen a German Shepherd and named him Jake. I'm having loads of fun with the game so far, although I'm having to make myself not play on it too much - I can see how it could get repetitive if you play it too long.

My girlfriend even loved the look of the game so much that she made me drive to Toys R Us so she could buy the blue DS bundle. Another happy customer. :)

You have to pronounce it the same each time you say it - no point in shouting it, or saying it quickly if that wasnt how you recorded it.

When the bone appears, quickly click the stylus on it and drag it to your dogs mouth for a nice treat.

My copy still hast arrived but I managed to play on my mates copy last night and I love it. The dogs are so cute and playful. I spent ages taking it for walks and teaching it tricks. I sat for like an hour and half just lavishing attention on the little thing.

Well, I woke up nice and early to meet Tegus again, and he was very kean to get me to teach him Lie Down and Roll Over. I'm getting quite good at getting the DS to actually realize I'm saying a trick now!

I also put in a long night's flying disc training as yesterday I had questionable results, and I did a bit more training in an empty park in the morning. After that, I decided to have my first shot at the competition for today, and we tied first!!! That's £100 towards my New Dog/Apartment fund.

My goal is to get a second dog as a friend for Tegus, then get them both doing competitions to get a new apartment. Tegus keeps getting scared of all the cars - but he's getting better now!

I got the Daschund & Friends version yesterday, along with Labrador & Friends (Which I got for my brother, seeing as I was heading to my course at the time, so I thought I would buy his version while I was out). When I had gotten home yesterday, me and my brother hooked up in Bark Mode, and I unlocked the Golden Retriever in my version, so now i've got a female Siberian Husky called Lima, and a male Golden Retriever called Nano, lol. I managed to buy a second dog, after I had won 1st place in the Disc Competition. So that added £100 to my balance so I could afford it. I've also only taught Lima 4 commands so far: Sit Down, Lie Down, Roll Over & Shake (where the pup wiggles their bum at you.). I'll be focusing more on Nano so he can learn all of the commands that Lima knows at the moment.

So my impressions of the game so far? - 'effin brilliant! :awesome:

Is it harder to teach tricks with just one word? I've been trying jump or shake for ages but he's not picking it up. I get the light bulb everytime but it's taking ages. So far I have sit down, lay down and roll over.

I had to unlearn lay down because I had actually taught him to half roll over the first time.

My dog learnt 'chase your tail' 'jump' and 'roll over' today. That's 6 in total so far. I learnt how to do a backflip today, but I'll have to wait till tomorrow to teach it.

My dog is a dumbass though, takes her a few times to understand 'lie down' and 'shake'. She's ok with the rest, but it takes 3 times to get those two going, may have to re-teach them.

I'm having the same problem, although not to the same extent - my dog often wiggles its bum when I say 'sit down'. I may have to change the command from just 'wiggle' to 'wiggle your bum' or something.

I pre-ordered mine on gameplay.com and it arrived in the post on thursday, gameplay tend to gte good reviews about this sort of thing soo i figured it would.

Its an amazing game. I think the dogs are so unbelievebly life like and the way they react to your voice is incredible.

Well thus far I'm enjoying life with my Labrador, "Oscar". I've taught him four or five tricks up to now, and we've tried our hands (paws?) at the flying disc competition, managing a modest third place upon first attempt. The only problem I've encountered is that I seem to have some trouble telling my dog to "Lie Down", since it rarely seems to respond to the command, despite having definitely learnt it. Any suggestions?

ben, I got a little frustrated when I got my second dog but you get used to it and its a lot better cos you can then let them play with each other, so just give it a little time.

Ive got my third dog now and im enjoying it a lot more, I stopped playing it for a few days (playing Another).

I keep getting crap presents - ive had the game for amonth, won virtually all competitions and they still pick up bark balls and ribbons - I want a helicopter :)

i have a cavalier king charles spaniel named sharny, shes a bit dumb, but very cute, i taught her about 5 tricks, but they kept getting mixed up with the voice commands so i deleted them all and im going to start over. erm..is there any point to the presents that your dog finds for you? all i can seem to do with my disposable camera is throw it and i would have thought that it would have enabled me to actually take a picture? :indeed:

Well my disposable camera said it was broken and had no film, so I'm guessing it's just a rubbish toy/something to sell.

I have a corgi called Toffee now too, and my boyfriend has a Schnauzer called Peanut. I just put my other dogs in the kennel when I want to train one.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I was just wondering if anyone has tried bark mode between the Euro and US versions, if so does it work? I've got the US version so I want to know if there is any point in me taking my DS around with me in bark mode or not. :hmm:

Bark mode between the US and Austrailian versions work so it should work with the Euro ones.

I hope it does work because i just bought the US version last week.

well, you do know that you need to do the trick 3-5 times before your dog remembers it? Other than that, I have no hints, sorry.

Oh, to lie down, get your dog to sit, and then move the stylus from his head to his stomach, this should make him lie. Click the lightbulb, speak, and repeat three times till done.

So far on my walkabouts, I've found;stick, 3 different coloured collars, sunglasses for my shiba inu, tissues, juice box, disposable camera, 2 frisbees....

One time we found a bin bag on the streets, I wasn't paying attenction though and my dog ate something out of it, then the music went all distorted and Tenchi was walking slow and heavy. When we got home, I discovered she'd eaten some Burito's. I also missed a present lying on the path once as well, I think the random presents that don't show up on the map are the better gifts.

Its, possible, but I got a tissue box from one of those presents before. I think it possibly depends on how many walks you've taken them on and the mood they are in. Or hell, it could just be completely random :heh:.

I saw the Mario Kart at EIEF when they were doing a demonstration of it. It's even got the music! There's 3 other karts you can get too..

hehe; came first in obedience open and agility beginners today. Had a go at frisbee, but sucked arse, so been practicing a bit. Tenchi is now brnging back her frisbee on her own(thank god) and she is now jumping higher and running faster than we we first started.

edit-I think begging is something you have to wait to teach(ie it needs to be more attached to ya). Mine can't do it yet, but I've only played the game for 65 minutes, so I can wait till she learns it.

Won the frisbee championship today, you only get $600, get $1000 for Obediance (which I found the easiest!!)

I found however that if you bath you dog then go for a walk, the good modd the bath puts him in makes the dog friendlier toother dogs and get better gifts!! Ive got some very rare gifts (moari statue and lisa doll) but just not the 'fun' gifts!!!

I got two music records, and white rubber bone (which my dog loves).. Thats about the best gifts I've got.

I won the Agility and Disc comepition they were either beginner or open class. Can't remember. Taught Gumbel to Jump, Chase his tail and give me his paw while standing. I got him to sit on his hind legs and beg several times, don't ask me how, but he wouldn't learn it.

These Luigi caps are more common than I first thought, I now have three of them. Pity none of you live near me, I could have given one away in bark mode. Anyway I managed to pick up two records (surprise and naptime, which apparently can change the dogs mood), a ? block (sort of works like the football), a platinum collar, plus one or two other valuable items.

Hmmm, Baka seems to pick up better items (and more of them) when he's in a good mood. The walking continues...

That's happened to me once before but I've since realized that even if the present goes off the screen you can still stop the dog and he'll go right back and get it! You've got to be reasonably quick but you'd be surprised what it lets you get away with.

But there is no need to rely on that:
Spoiler-ish, (not really but I want an excuse to try out the spoiler quote :heh: )

If you look at the dog icon on the top screen you'll notice that sometimes it freezes
even if the dog is still moving on the touch screen,
if this happens it means the dog is about to find a hidden present/crap.
And it gives you time to get ready to stop the dog.

I was wondering about bark mode - how sensitive is the wireless connection? I was reading it has a range of 30-100 feet but if I have my DS in a case, in my bag, and walk around town, will it be able to pick anything up through the layers?! Or do I need to hold it in my hand?! :confused:

im not sure is has effect of small layers like a bag but i could still play wirelessly with my friend around his house and it only went yellow when he was in bathroom and i was outside (thats 4 walls and about 25 ft) so yea its pretty darn good

Just had an eventful session. Taught my dog to beg, came 2nd in the expert obedience class, went for a walk and found a lilly doll and a lions mane(looks awesome on Tenchi) and bought a keyboard from the discount shop.

I love the way the dog sits next to you and barks along with you as you play!! Well worth the £100 i spent on it.

i think they're more random than anything. I check the discount shop once a day, and I go for walks 4-5 times a day. I think that is your best bet tbh.

Well mines clearly been lost in the post so I went and bought it at my local woolworths this morning.
I got myself a Siberian Husky and named him Link due to the resemblence from the wolf in Zelda:TP. I have managed to teach him Sit, Roll Over and Lie Down. He keeps wiggling his butt at me and im wondering what move is that called? Is it the shake? I also won the first level frisby contest but sucked at the obediance one. With the moves that he has learnt will he become more responsive if I keep using them as at the moment he has trouble listening to me lol.

Oh, I also tried recording my dog's name so it would constantly think it's being called for, but it doesn't react to the white record, shame though :d

!?! Okay, I'm at my office doing some work and I brought my DS with me because Band Brothers came today and I wanted to check it out. Anyways, I put Nintendogs on to do my daily chores and pray the tug rope's in the shop or I pick up a helicopter or Mario Kart - not had anything good in a month!! Anyways, I took my best dog Charlie on a monster walk around the whole town going into both shops and getting every ? My red battery light was on but I didn't care, that was until I picked up a 'Mario Kart' on my first block!!! My red light was on, I got the kart and I had to go round the whole town, in both shops and on every question mark!!! I also got two new clocks on the way round!! It was the best God damn walk I'd been on and I was shitting myself because the red light was there and voices in my head saying - it's going to die!!! It's going to die before you can save it!!!

How do you make them breakdance? Remeber that your dog can lay down left and right and this counts as two tricks - some tricks have two variations so theres prob only about 30 different tricks!!

Do Bark Mode with a dog in a breed that you don't have.

Example: Do Bark Mode with a Chihuahua and after you do Bark Mode with that dog, you will be able to buy the Chihuahua breed at the kennel.

NOTE: This only works the first time with each different version of the game. So you can do this trick one time with Labrador & Friends, Chihuahua & Friends, and any other version of Nintendogs.

I'll try and get you a picture some time. Great game. Bark mode is meh. Only good thing about it is when you find another dog, their type gets unlocked in your kennel to buy, so I now have a Pug and Husky for sale on my Lab version :P

I got Chihuahua and Friends yesterday. I got a German Shepard named Max. So far Max has learned sit, lie down and shake hands, won the first obedience contest and found 2 sticks and a box of tissues while out walking. It's a great game. I cant wait to get more gifts and unlock the Siberian Husky.

Yay, I got the RC helicopter today. Not as good as a Mario Kart, but lots of fun all the same. I also failed in the championship class frisbee contest, but got onto the champion class (haven't had a go yet) in the obedience contest. Oh, and I bought the tatami room. :D

The counter only displays the amount of time you actually spend touching the dog, i.e. stroking it, washing and brushing it ect... Not play time.

My Dachshund (first dog I got) has about 4:40 on the time, and I've had the game for like 7 weeks and played it almost every day within that time.

After having a bloody nasty ignore me all the time, Labrador named Luxas I had resseted all data and got myself a Miniature Schnauzer named Laguna and he is oh so adorable. It is truely an amazing game which will make many I'm sure squeal in delight as they shake paws, and actually feel sympthaty when your dog eats some garbage.

I'm thinking that these clover clocks and lucky collars are bringing me more luck during walks. I seem to be running across much less garbage now, and more presents (including a rubber mushroom, a ? block and a Mario hat all in one walk). The walking goes on...

Also, my tatami room is now here. It looks quite nice.

My Tippy now wears a Japanese dog collar. She also came first in the Open Class Agility Trial. And I have a Marble Clock, with a very psychedelic clock face. Groovy, man! :D

I had to re-teach her how to shake and lie down though :cool:

Just click on the numbers 1,2,3,4 on each section until the map looks like the one in your copy of the game. Now when taking your dog for a walk make sure you hit as many of the presents as possible even if they dont show up on the screen. That way you get more pressies per walk.

Been playing this game with my girlfriend all week. Though it soon become repetitve after the initial playsessions, you'll still came back to it day after day, hour after hour. I'm just totally addicted to this game.

Got a shiba inu called Tiga right now. Don't plan on getting a second dog yet. Tried out bark mode the a few days, no luck yet. This mode probably isnt suited to Europe anyway... I'll give it another few tries though.

I entered the Championship class of the disc throw competition. Managed to get in 3rd, Tiga is doing well in there. Unlike the obedience comp... Tried it twice, got a 5.13 and a 1.13! How horrible! When we get home, Tiga listens to all my commands (unless I wake him up in the middle of the night...), but he's doing just terrible in the contest...

I got my 2nd RC Helecopter last night and my 2nd Mario Kart the other day. Have already given the Kart to my wife, so will let her have the Helecopter next time we 'meet up'.

We've both got the US version and have been playing since it was released. I think I've managed to get most of the 'rare' items, but the one thing that's really annoying me is that I still haven't managed to get the Fireman's Hat!

Got a husky today, called him max. Don't ask why he just looked like a Max to me. So now i've got a chihuahua called Charlie and a Husky called Max. At first when i got Max Charlie wanted to fight but they are now friends. But really how the hell does a chihuahua beat up a husky that's twice it's size.
