I was just thinking- having been here for a few years (on and off) since I did work experience (long shit days, internet access = post deluge.) I've certainly got alot older, changed a fair bit over the years and generally got more and more awesome.
but here comes the important bit: Has the forum aged with me? certainly we have a few older members (see the uni thread etc) but we've also lost a fair few old C-E members and such.
I recently turned 20 but how old is the forum on average?

Of course it is, doesn't everyone want to look younger then the actually are? (other then 16 year olds trying to get a drink in a pub). Well I'm 20, which sucks as I can no longer use the excuse of being a teenager. Interesting theory about the forum growing up as the members grow up, however as soon as someone brings up the topic of masturbation that theory soon goes to hell.

I don't really think I've changed in that time, to be honest; I've always been this annoying.

21 here, joined when I was 18. maybe, I think.
Based on the data I've collected from this thread the collective age is: Damn. I screwed up on my first try. Worry not! I'll try another time. My age is 26.
Collective age currently: 863 year
Those in the their 18 years made up the bulk of the age with a collective age of 199 year. There were 11 people in that age group. They were also the biggest age group.
Runner-ups were those in their 20 years totalling 140 year. There were 7 people in that age group being also the runner-up in age groups.
The youngest age group was the 14 years. They totalled only 28 year. They were also amongst the smallest age group.
There were four people who didn't share their age with no one. Those had the age of 31 years, 25 years, 23 years and 27 years (being revealed by another member).

That surprises me. I suppose that because I'm over 30, and all the people I play games with are over 30, I assume that there're loads of older gamers out there.
These numbers probably scupper my plans of suggesting going for a few beers with anyone going to the Oxford Street GAME midnight release of the Wii...

I wouldn't mind going for a couple of beers with you, mtg101. But, I live so far away from you. One plane ticket to Oslo (appr. £60) and then towards London (probably around £30). Plus, hotel expenses which I am not sure how much it costs. =)

I agree that kids shouldn't be exposed to foul language on the internet: they should learn that sort of thing in the school playground, as I had to.
However, if we're to set a good example by not using bad language and correcting the kids when they use it, shouldn't we do the same with bad language usage?

Grammar is as superficial as Jordan (the busty woman, not the forum member). You understand the sentence from the context. Same with words, why should I have to use words in the dictionary. Or even within common usage. So I may say "oh frak I'm so plum flustered over this doodathing" but doesn't mean its unintelligable (within the context, the person would know what the "doodathing" is). Im a firm believer in the descriptive linguistic approach.
And Shorty, you do look under 18. But I always get carded too, its fine. Enjoy it before we all become old and wrinkly. Cause that's truely worse than bad grammar :p

We can't have that many kids- I suspect the vast, vast, vast majority are fakes. As far as active community members go we must have an over 18 advantage.
And don't forget the intellectual advantage :heh: . Honestly though, for the most part this forum is pretty mature. I feel so old knowing that at just 20 I'm in the oldest 13% of the forums! Still, I know I won't feel old until I finish uni and get a proper job. I've already started saying "back in my day"... :red:

Or, if you really want to know how old I am, the square root of 15,625, divided by 4, multiplied by 12, divided by 25. That should give you the right answer. But don't post it if you've got it figured out. Make the others work for it.

Now that was a burn.
Is it obvious that the younger members are younger?
With some members it is obvious*, but with others I think they're much younger than I thought they would be.
*I'm not going to name names, and I don't mean Triforce_keeper, I was just joking about that, as he hopefully knows.

Still the forums are nowhere near as busy as they once were back in the c-e days.
It takes time for a forum to get really busy. 2 and a half thousand members in a little over a year is nothing to be snuffed at. I think it was just under 10 thousand joined for C-E, so we've still got a long way to go yet.

Triforce, chiiiilll. You seen very 'excited' so maybe you just need to sit down for a while and stop eating sugar.
I signed up for C-E in the August of 2002 if i remember correctly. I remember it being summer, and i think the cube had just been launched, so therefore my date is correct. Yaaay.
I think i got made admin before the site changed for r-e. Can't remember a date exactly. Looking back, i think i embarassed myself looking over my first few posts. I like to think that i've developed a sense of maturity since those days.
