DS is getting better and suport and alot of good DS games is already out.
Already there are alot of AAA games out for the DS (Castelvania 10/10 (http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=617471), Trauma center 9/10 (http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=623035), Nintendogs 10/10 (http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=615953), Advance wars 10/10 (http://www.gamerankings.com/itemrankings/launchreview.asp?reviewid=597080)) and games like Zelda and mariokart isn't even out yet .
DS has also Sold better than the PSP in japan since the release of psp (with an exeption of a few weeks)

This means that even more 3parties wil suport DS in the future and some companies may stop suport PSP (wish full thinking).
Devolping DS games is far cheaper and also more rewarding.

Anyway you look at it DS is a succsess not soon to be forgotten.
Nintendo still knows what they are doing :D Nintendo is the way of the future.

It's good to hear Nintendo is doing great. Let's hope it'll be the same with Revolution.
How is the DS doing compared to the PSP in the US and Europe?

i am really happy to see Nintendo doing good and getting third part support. I saw their support slowly disappearing since the N64 to now when the Gamecube is so often left out of multi-platform releases. It is now great to see the DS getting so much support, i am really happy and hope this trend continues.

As far as i know DS is not doing better than PSP in and US. But i think the are more DS sold in Europe than PSPs.

With The Sun saying Nintendogs will be the biggest game this christmas, and Nintendo starting to advertise well on TV, DS sales could increase a lot in Europe between now-> Xmas.

Its good to see that DS is a success in a japan. But, they need to turn there attention to the western markets. It was blatant PSP wouldnt do as good as the DS in japan because of the innovation, but on the other side of the world, its a different story.

Sony had a unique way of getting a good word, the graphics. If the western market were like japan and were into fun unique games, PSP wouldnt stand a chance. But, it seems the western market is more focused on the brand and graphics. Sure I love nintendo, so I didnt hesitate to buy a DS, i like to try new things. But the large fanbase of sony has been able to tell people Playstation 2 in your hands is good. It may cost more, but you'l be popular by having one. Theres no new sense of play, just a Playstation thats mobile. Have it.

This is what Nintendo realy needs to focus on, they need to bring out there guns, theres no time to not release games that are popular in japan elsewere. Fun = More gamers, and this is Nintendo's goal. They need to dish out brands, as were seeing at the moment, we've got 3 major games coming from Nintendo all Wi-Fi enabled for DS.

And with the Imminent release of the new GTA this month, sony has picked a good time to release it. Now, all Nintendo has to do is have some Decent adverts and unique lasting games. Nintendo has been awful with the money it had for advertising in europe, and this is why it could of sold alot more.

Nintendo needs to act fast, because it seems the top awaited games for DS are coming out within the next 4 months, and we have no clue after that.

Verdict: Nintendo must announce big games for next year, just the names, E3 should be the true unveiling for games, but thats too far away.

Erm, have you been asleep today - quite a few games have been announced. Any anyway the masses who buy PS2 and PSP dont really care or know about all this online gamesite shenanigans, thats for a very small minority of gamers to be honest!! 70% of gamers probably dont even know what E3 is!!!

I think the DS and PSP will do VERY well this Xmas!

Well, so far I think that I have done quite a lot for Nintendo. My mum's friend has never touched a console after the NES (she still has it with a few games such as Zeldda etc).

Anyway, i showed her my DS and she went mental with Wario Ware: Touched! Now, not only has she bought herself one but I showed it to her daughters (one is 13 and the other is 23) and again, the 13 year old got a DS for her b'day and the 23 year old went out to buy one with her own money lol.

Now, my friends at school are to buy one because I told them about Mario Kart being online and the fact that we can Vs each other without going to each other's houses lol.

But, come tomorrow, when I get Nintendogs, I shall go into school and show it off to ALL the girls and I will tell everyone the results lol :D

Japanese adult gamers prefer Nintendo DS to Sony PSP.
"Nintendo are just for kids." How many times have you heard that and felt like crying out with rage? Well, in Japan, things are a little different.

There are portables that are easily associated with a younger audience like the GBA, but as for the Nintendo DS and Sony's PSP it would be wrong to assume that adults would opt for the PSP.
To confirm that, the Otonafami magazine decided to find out which console is more popular with older players.

To realize this research, the magazine used a sample built by 1000 players with ages equal or superior to 20 years. And the results couldn’t be clearer, with 25% of the interviewed revealing they possess a Nintendo DS and only 14% a PSP.
As for the players that had not bought any portable, they were asked if they were interested in buying one of these. Once again Nintendo took the advantage, with 34% of the interviewed showing interest in buying Nintendo DS and only 31% revealing plans to buy a PSP.

In the hardware field the Nintendo took an advantage, but in software the difference was huge. 23% of the players that have a Nintendo DS have more than 6 games for the console, while in the case of PSP that number was just 11%.

And the DS Attachment Rate Rises!!

Recent reports from Japan confirm that the attachment rate for the Nintendo DS is on the rise. The President of the Japanese gaming publication, Famitsu, Hirokazu Hamamura, has recently reported that the attachment rate for the Nintendo DS is increasing in Japan.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, the attachment rate, or tie-in rate, is the number of software copies sold in comparison to hardware units sold. Earlier this year, the Nintendo DS enjoyed a 1.11 software to hardware rate. The current tie in rate for the portable is now reported to be in the area of 2.62 games per every system sold. Famitsu's President cites the tremendously popular Brain Training series, as well as Nintendogs, and Jump Superstars for the rise in DS games sold.

While the attachment rate for the Nintendo DS has risen dramatically, the same can not be said for the Playstation Portable. The tie-in rate for Sony's portable has since increased to 1.91 software units per every hardware unit sold. Hamamura has cited a lack of "killer" releases for the portable as the reason behind its lagging attachment rate.

At the moment, the PSP seems to be beating the DS by some way outside of Japan, but not as effectively as Sony had hoped - also it'll be intresting to see how player intrest swings the market as software libraries build up and more new gamers enter the market - probably via Nintendogs. If Nintendo can come up with more games as succesful as Nintendogs, they could be in with a shout of beating the PSP elsewhere.

"Winning"? There's no medals at stake here, neither is it a race. Just play the damn games!

Well I think Mario Kart will probably shift a shed load of DS's. Mario Kart was designed for online and hopefully it'll be as easy as they say it is.

There is a medal, well a prize, domination of the handheld market and money! And yes, it is a race, a race to produce AAA titles.

That's true. I'm hearing too much about "PSP/DS is teh best!111111!!". It's tiring after a while.

Too many kiddie games :(

[EDIT] I so totally wrote it out each time.I like kiddy games, as long as they are good, also the target market for Sony and Microsoft is kids, not adults, all the kids I know have GTA, none has super smash bros, i'm past the age of being embarassed about that, I just want to have fun playing them.

DS for me is the best console made in ages... why? because it's diferent, that's exacly want I want, and I'm all excited about the countless RPG's gracing it...

Dead? they say "punk is dead" since the 80's and it's still going strong, Nintendo will too as long as they are in-bussiness and I'm buying their games, for quality alone; not because of the kiddy theme (or not).

I agree with andriod18, i mean we're not really running so it shouldn't really matter, just enjoy the efforts of both, siding with just means you miss out on the effort of the other. I thought people had learned that from the home console market already, so nothing should really stop it being translated to the handheld market. Yet to pick up either but plan to once i get games i personally am more interested in.

Every kid has GTA:SA, none have SSBM., and GTA pretty crap. And its quality not maturity.
