The number of killer apps on launch is fine to me, since I won't be able to afford that many anyway :P I'll probably get Zelda and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, and if they get decent reviews, Red Steel and Rayman.

WOW! I knew that Excite Truck wouldn't make the launch but Trauma Center as well!?

Glad I'm getting the US Wii now! although it's a bit unfair how Japan get much more Virtual Console games at launch than anyone else (And I expect it to stay the same throughout it's entire lifetime)

well guess what.. three games for me at launch.. and yes they are the highlighted.. so ill have to wait for Excitetruck and by god I want Metal slug anthology.. well maybe i will pick up Monkey ball too.. but I almost broke a controller because I suck at it.. and I don't think the wii mote is as sturdy as the good ole GameCube controller

Red Steel
Rayman
Zelda: TTP
Tony Hawks
Super Monkey Ball
Wii:Play
Wii: Sports

I was dissapointed about Excitetruck, Elebits, Trauma Centre not making the launch, but my god, those games make up for it!

I'll probably download Sonic, Golden Axe, Toe Jam and Earl, Wario Woods, F-Zero (snes) on launch day as well! BUT the games are pretty expensive...i mean 700 points for a mega-drive game? Thats nearly half of the 2000 you get...and 2000 points cost £15-20 don't they?

Here is European VC launch list (compiled by Cubed3 from Hudson's, Sega's and Nintendo's official press releases):

NES: Baseball, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Ice Hockey, Mario Bros., Pinball, Soccer, Solomon's Key (Tecmo), Tennis, The Legend of Zelda, Urban Champion, Wario's Woods.

SNES: Donkey Kong Country, F-Zero, SimCity

N64: Super Mario 64

SEGA MEGA DRIVE: Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Columns, Gunstar Heroes, Ecco the Dolphin, Space Harrier II, Toe Jam & Earl, Ristar, Dr. Robotonik’s Mean Bean Machine

Turbografx (PC Engine): Bonk’s Adventure, Super Star Soldier, Victory Run, Bomberman’93, Dungeon Explorer

So.... this list contains three "NTSC only*" titles, so could we finally get over "PAL only" and "no Turbographx" games bullshit?

* Bomberman'93, Super Star Soldier, Victory Run

Well that's just Hudson, will Nintendo be willing to follow suit in regards to NTSC only games? we'll have to wait and see. At least Chrono Trigger is a possibility now! MAKE IT HAPPEN SQUARE-ENIX!

Edit: Hang on there's no Super Mario Bros in that list WTF!!! That's Bullshit!!! No Super Mario World I can kinda understand but not even SMB? Fuck that shit!!!

Good news about Wario Ware though (Same time as US roughly) not so good about Excite Truck :(

On another note you would think that they would of tried to release the games they released in Jjapan vc to us

It wouldn't matter about Bomberman '93 anyway....Isn't that just the Turbografx ver. of Mega Bomberman??

It's surprising not to see Streets of Rage on the Megadrive though. Not that I'd get it, as I'v got it on Sonic Gems, and I definately wouldn't be getting the 3rd one if that comes out....The western ver. is awful, and I obviously have the decent one on Sonic Gems too :heh:

Again 3 of the games I would instantly buy at launch miss the EU time frame. As usual.

I swear the first legal method which allows me to play US games will be bought within seconds. I and I guess many gamers from the UK wouldn't care to get the US versions of games instead of those multilanguage crap releases.
It is 2006 if you are not good enough to play games in english - you are either too youg are too dumb and therfor you should wait for games in your language.

Well I am quite happy about the better EU VC lineup and I might even get a few of those games but still I would rather switch places with the US and get the Wii games cheaper and sooner.

Well I guess it takes another console generation to finally prove that the EU market is worth fighting for.

Wohoo, i can finally (hopefully) pre-order my games and extra wiimotes

The one thing missing from that, that i am wondering is how much does Wii Play with Wiimote bundle cost? Like will it be like a free Wiimote with the game? Or a reduced priced Wiimote?

So lets see, Wii and Wiisports already pre-ordered (with jusy 100euro left to pay). So i need to order Zelda, Red Steel, Wii Play with wiimote, extra nunchuck.

I may get more wiimotes/nunchucks instead of another game, as Zelda will likley rule my life anyway and i'll forget about all others

Japanese list is much better we're having like 32 virtual console games in total and in japan they have almost 50 VC games, Snes is much better, with Castlevania IV, Contra III Super mario world, The legend of zelda a link to the past and many more, but hey we're having one VC game more than the us, they are not getting DKC at launch.

Just when you think about link to the past they have the english translaton of it so you would think we would get it on launch as well.

But you never know by end of december we may have nearer the amount of titles that the japan is getting on vc

I think EDGE have gotten the wrong end of the stick meaning the shop channel won't go live until the japanese launch

Mike
01-11-2006, 12:41 PM
Not a bad lineup, although I still don't think there's an excuse for not having Excite Truck as a launch title over here.

I'm not too bothered about the VC games list either, as I probably won't use it much. I don't really see why they can't just have all the games up from the start, though, rather than making customers wait for the games they want.

Also, have the UK prices for VC games been announced yet? I know that, for example, N64 games will cost 1000 Wii points, which is €10, but what will we be paying over here? I hope my suspicions aren't correct, and they don't just make them £10..

I don't really see why they can't just have all the games up from the start, though, rather than making customers wait for the games they want.

Nintendo are marketing masters! IF they release a lot of games on the VC at the start then people will only spend their 2000 points on the games the really want. Release a limited selection and people will most likely still spend their 2000 points and when that game they always wanted comes along then they will go buy 2000 more points. Its a good way of making people spend more money.

I do find it a bit strange that the Japanese get far more SNES games. It doesnt bother me as I will probably only download 1 or 2 games because I'm not prepared to pay £10 for a game that is freely available on my PC. I will most likely head for Turbo Graphix and Megadrive games as I didnt own neither of those consoles. I would love to replay all the classic snes games from my youth but at the price they are charging I may just limit it to super mario world.

GGrrrrr... just went to the shop at lunch time, their not taking pre-orders on games and extras still yet (and only one of the two behind the counter whne i was there knew the launch list came out this morning).

Said they have to wait for their head office to decide on how much they'll sell them for and then to put them in their system.

I'll try again tomorrow (and everyday untill they do :heh:) seeing as when the Wii launch date was annouced they started taking pre-orders the very next day i'm hoping the same will happen with the games.

If i don't get my Z:TP and Red Steel at launch i will be one p'd off gamer :heh:

I'm gonna sound a bit grouchy but I don't really like the launch list that much. It's a much better launch compared to other consoles but the games I was looking forward to have been delayed and the one VC game I wanted isn't there. There's only 5 games there top that interest me.

That's a great launch lineup. There may only be a few AAA games in that list, but let's not forget people will want to pick those other ones up too. They'll be chucked into Toys R Us bundles and such. The only ones I'm really gunning for is Zelda, WiiPlay, Red Steel if it gets good reviews and probably one other title like Monkey Ball.

[edit]

For everyone complaining about "OH MY GOD, NO MARIO (number/subtitle) ON DAT LIST!" just remember that basically everyone owns a copy of those games on the GBA.

This is all fine and dandy, but theres something we still havent been told about which quite concerning. RRP, We need to know these. Wii was supposed to be about an affordable option for next gen, but we're not exactly sure how much that stretches here in europe. We know the controller is more expensive than the others and etc, but we still dont know average game prices!

But I guess its kinda safe that pretty much all launch titles will be near or £40.

The virtual console is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, there could be some more N64 titles though.. however this is good tbh.

We have the PC-Engine and the Mega Drive support, now we need to see the MSX and then we can start complaining about the lack of American SNES muscle.

Super Monkey Ball + Wii Sports should keep me through Winter.

Is DKC definitely confirmed for Europe? I was under the impression from other sites that this only made the Japanese list for 2006.

Well, I'm get:

Zelda:Twilight Princess, Red Steel and either Wii Play or Monkey Ball, If I can afford second wii mote and monkey ball I will, overwise Wii Play to save some pennys, gonna get another game for xmas hopefully aswell.

As for VC gonna get:

Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Country, Golden Axe, Gunstar Heroes, Toe Jam & Earl.

Maybe not all those VC's at launch, but will get them either on launch or when I get paid again the week after, also really want bomberman '93 on turbograx if we are getting it?! Bit disappointed we are not getting more N64 games.

Yah we get the pc engine. Thats brilliant for us 40 titles for it by the end of next year. I'll probably buy them all tbh then I can sell off the original games.

COMMODORE 64 GAMES?! I never knew they were on it! :)

I want the game 'Chuckie Egg' and that game with 'bats' and 'wizards'! I'm sure thats commodore 64!

Anyone think that the Wii points will sell-out at launch? or do you think places will be well-stocked?

On another note, i was surprised to go onto the Gameplay forum and find out that at least 5 people have cancelled their Wii preorders in a matter of a day! Mainly because of the launch line-up (i was dissapointed, but it ain't that bad) and a couple were patient enough to say, they will wait till next year.....I know it's only 5 people, that will make no difference to anything, but...i hope more don't think like this after Nintendo announced the launch line-up!

God, I can't wait for it to arrive now. I hope people aren't moaning about a few of the titles not making the launch. At least there's something to look forward to after the launch. If we had to wait a few months for Mario and didn't get anything inbetween it'd be boring.

Chuckie Egg is one of my all time favourtie games!! I had it on the Spectrum!! Now I'd love if they had spectrum games on there - Chuckie Egg, Bomb Jack, Jest Set Willy, Jet Pack, Attic Attack, Treasure island.....

Amiga would also be awesome - cannon fodder, syndicate, pirates......

The potential for the VC is amazing game wise and frightening money wise!!! And clown like pennywise.........

.....Sorry......

COMMODORE 64 GAMES?! I never knew they were on it! :)Me neither, but its fantastic news!

Hope they put up CJ's elephant antics... Midnight Resistance... Dizzy... Turrican II... Snare... The Last Ninja...

Man, I could go on forever! :heh:

I wonder if we'll still have to wait for the games to load.
And what do you reckon the chances are of The Great Giana Sisters appearing on the VC?
